Bay County

Street address

Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Florida provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Bay County Clerk: DD-214 Recording

MiscellaneousBay County, FL · County

The Bay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller records discharges in the Official Records at the Courthouse in Panama City; section 28.222(3)(d) makes that free to the veteran, though the Clerk's fee page prints only the ordinary $10 first-page charge and its forms page has no DD-214 removal request.

Any veteran. Recording a discharge is free and no rating is needed. The rating filter never hides this entry.

Bay County Property Appraiser: Veteran Exemptions and the Combat Discount

HousingBay County, FL · County

The Bay County Property Appraiser takes veterans' exemption applications in person by March 1 at 860 W. 11th Street, Panama City (850-248-8401), asking for a VA rating decision or benefits summary letter; its exemptions page follows the statutes, but the page's opening lines give March 6th and "March 3th", and its checklist's deployment note names operations the statute no longer lists.

10% for the $5,000 exemption; permanent and total for the full one. The $5,000 exemption starts at a 10% disability. The full homestead exemption needs a service-connected total and permanent disability. The combat discount needs age 65, an honorable discharge and a combat-related rating.

Bay County Stormwater Utility Fee: No Fee on a Disabled Veteran Homestead

HousingBay County, FL · County

Bay County assesses a flat-rate stormwater utility fee of $40 a year on each developed residential parcel in the unincorporated areas, and its Code exempts from the fee the homestead of anyone qualifying for the additional disabled veteran homestead exemptions under sections 196.081, 196.082 and 196.091.

Homestead qualifying for a section 196.081, 196.082 or 196.091 exemption. The homestead of a veteran who qualifies for the total and permanent exemption, the combat-related discount or the wheelchair veteran exemption pays no stormwater fee. The combat discount needs age 65 and a combat-related rating; the wheelchair exemption needs a total service-connected rating and VA specially adapted housing assistance.

Bay County Tax Collector: Veteran Driver Licence Designation and Fees

MiscellaneousBay County, FL · County

The Bay County Tax Collector adds the word Veteran to a licence or ID card at no charge and issues a no-fee licence to a 100% service-connected veteran, but its page asks for an honorable discharge and says "we cannot accept VA cards", where sections 322.14 and 322.051 accept the VA health and Veteran ID cards and set no discharge test, and its fee table omits the $6.25 service fee no veteran owes.

Any veteran for the designation and the service fee; 100% for the free licence. Any veteran, with a DD-214 or a VA health or Veteran ID card, gets the designation and pays no $6.25 service fee; the no-fee licence needs an honorable discharge and a 100% service-connected rating. The rating filter does not hide this entry.

Bay County: No Local Business Tax to Exempt

Education & EmploymentBay County, FL · County

The Bay County Code carries no local business tax article - the license and taxation chapter reserves the articles where one would sit - and the Tax Collector publishes no local business tax service, so a veteran opening a business in unincorporated Bay County owes the county no local business tax and needs no exemption. A municipality inside the county that levies one applies section 205.055.

No county business tax; statute applies where a city levies one. Bay County levies no local business tax, so no veteran exemption is needed at the county level. Any city tax follows section 205.055: honorable discharge, or a listed spouse.

Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Veterans Treatment Court

MiscellaneousBay County, FL · County

The Fourteenth Judicial Circuit's Veterans Treatment Court serves veterans charged with misdemeanors or felonies who live in Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson or Washington County, in an outpatient four-to-five phase programme of roughly twelve to twenty-four months. Its eligibility list requires an honorable or under-honorable-conditions discharge and stable housing, and it excludes anyone incarcerated in state prison more than once - tests the statute does not set.

Circuit-resident veteran with honorable or under-honorable discharge. A veteran living in the circuit with a substance abuse or mental health issue and qualifying charges, honorably discharged or discharged under honorable conditions, with stable housing; exclusions may be waived by the State Attorney and the court. No rating is needed.
