Where it applies

Applies in states and territories.

The Labor Department funds each state to place Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists and Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVER) in American Job Centers. DVOP specialists give intensive career services to veterans with significant barriers to employment, such as a service-connected disability, homelessness, recent release from incarceration, low income, or being 18 to 24. LVER staff work with employers to hire veterans. Separately, under 38 U.S.C. 4215, every job training program funded by the Labor Department must give a veteran or eligible spouse priority of service over other applicants. Find the nearest American Job Center through CareerOneStop or the state workforce agency. The services are free.
