Where it applies

Applies in states and territories.

A living recipient of the Medal of Honor who is entered on the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard Medal of Honor Roll receives a special pension under 38 U.S.C. 1562. It is not means-tested and is paid in addition to any other benefit, including disability compensation and military retired pay. The rate effective December 1, 2025, is $5,780 a month. The service department places the recipient on the Roll and certifies them to VA. A recipient can also receive a lump sum covering the months between the act and the start of the pension. A Medal of Honor recipient's child may also qualify for service academy appointments and supplemental education payments, which are outside this entry.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
