State veterans service officers help Florida veterans file VA claims at no charge. The Benefits and Assistance Division in Bay Pines is the statewide contact.
Also called: VSO, claims, service officer, FDVA, benefits and assistance.
The Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits and Assistance Division helps veterans prepare and submit VA claims. The help is free. The division office is 9500 Bay Pines Boulevard, Suite 214, Bay Pines, FL 33744, and the phone is (727) 319-7440. State veterans service officers also sit at VA medical centers and at the state homes. The department publishes that site list. Headquarters is 11351 Ulmerton Road, Suite 311-K, Largo, FL 33778, phone (727) 518-3202.
A county may employ its own veteran service officer. That county office is not this statewide entry. A state service officer does not decide a VA claim.
The word Veteran can be added to a Florida driver license or identification card from a DD-214 or another form Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles accepts. If that designation is the only change, the replacement card has no fee. That mark is not the 100% permanent-and-total fee waiver.
