DeSoto County

Street address

Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Florida provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

DeSoto County Brownville Park: $2 Day Fee With No Published Veteran Discount

MiscellaneousDeSoto County, FL · County

DeSoto County charges non-campers a $2 daily user fee at Brownville Park on the Peace River, its one county park with an entrance fee; the county publishes no discount for service members or veterans, though section 125.029 requires a county park department to give one, so a veteran should ask for it at the gate.

DeSoto County Clerk: DD-214 Recording and Removal

MiscellaneousDeSoto County, FL · County

The DeSoto County Clerk of the Circuit Court lists "DD214 - Military Discharges" among the documents it records - free to the veteran under section 28.222(3)(d), though its fee pages print only the ordinary $10 first page - and takes notarized requests to remove a discharge image from its public website. 115 East Oak Street, Room 101, Arcadia, (863) 993-4876.

Any veteran. Recording and removing a discharge are free and no rating is needed. The rating filter never hides this entry.

DeSoto County Property Appraiser: Veteran Exemptions

HousingDeSoto County, FL · County

DeSoto County's Property Appraiser, 815 N. Mills Avenue, Suite 101, Arcadia (863-993-4866), takes the $5,000 exemption for a veteran disabled 10% or more, the total exemption for a service-connected total and permanent disability, the deployment exemption and the 65-plus combat discount by March 1; its page adds a five-year marriage test for surviving spouses that the statutes do not set, cites the discount to the wrong section, and prints a $500 figure for the $5,000 exemptions.

10% for the $5,000 exemption; total and permanent for the full exemption. The $5,000 exemption starts at a 10% service-connected disability. The full exemption needs a service-connected total and permanent disability. The 65-plus discount equals the combat-related percentage.

DeSoto County Solid Waste Collection Assessment: Exemption for Disabled Veteran Homesteads

HousingDeSoto County, FL · County
