Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Oklahoma provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Cherokee County Assessor (Stephanie Teague): the 100% Disabled Veterans Exemption

HousingCherokee County, OK · County

The Cherokee County Assessor (Stephanie Teague, 213 W. Delaware, Room 304, Tahlequah, 918-456-3201) takes the State’s 100% disabled veteran homestead exemption, and the county’s Where Do I? page sends the filing there; in June 2026 the commissioners took up the Oklahoma Tax Commission’s $162,649 FY26 reimbursement of the veterans and surviving spouses exemptions, split between schools and county.

100% disabled veteran (or the surviving spouse). A VA rating of 100% permanent and total, or compensation at the 100% rate, or surviving-spouse status; the State statute sets the test.

Oklahoma Veterans Registry and Veterans Service Representatives

Registering with the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs is voluntary, but since November 1, 2020 it has been required before almost any state benefit: the sales tax card, the vehicle excise exemption, the free driver licence, the veteran designation, disabled veteran hunting and fishing licences and the $5 plate. The department's service representatives help with VA claims and state benefit letters at no charge.
