Oklahoma Veteran Designation on Driver Licenses and ID Cards

Any veteran in the Oklahoma Veterans Registry can have a flag emblem and the word "Veteran" on the driver licence or state ID. It is also proof for free admission to state parks and museums.

Also called: 47 O.S. 6-124, veteran emblem, flag emblem, veteran designation, DD-214, NGB-22.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Title 47, section 6-124 requires Service Oklahoma to make space "in a prominent location on the front of the driver license and the identification card for a flag emblem and the word 'veteran'". The applicant must be registered with the Veterans Registry unless they already had the emblem. Who qualifies. The department's registry page says the emblem needs active duty service other than training with an honorable or general under honorable conditions discharge, and also names Oklahoma residents who served in the Guard or reserves. Service Oklahoma accepts a previous licence with the emblem, a DD-214 or DD-215, the 100 percent disabled veteran card, the Veteran ID card, an NGB-22 or 23 showing honorable or general, or the VA health identification card. What it does. Title 72, section 7 makes a licence or ID with the flag and the word "veteran" "sufficient for free admission to all state-owned and state-operated parks and museums". Otherwise the department notes that no third party must accept it as proof of service.
