Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Colleges and universities. The Oklahoma National Guard Educational Assistance Act, Title 70, section 3231, pays "the amount of resident tuition and approved mandatory fees, program fees, academic service fees, and any other fees" for a current Guard member in good standing at a state system institution, "not to exceed a maximum of eighteen (18) credit hours each semester", 120 hours for associate and bachelor's degrees and, once undergraduate assistance is fully funded, 40 hours toward a master's degree. It is subject to available funds and any cap the Military Department sets. The service commitment. The member needs at least a year left on the enlistment at the start of each semester, must agree to finish it and to "serve actively in good standing... for not less than twenty-four (24) months after completion of the last semester", keep a 2.0 grade point average and satisfactory drill participation, and hold an occupational specialty after the first semester. A member who stops participating repays a twenty-fourth of the total for each month short, unless the Adjutant General waives it for hardship. Technology centers. The Oklahoma National Guard CareerTech Assistance Act, added in 2025, pays technology center tuition for a program leading to certification or licensure for up to three years on the same service terms, after federal vocational benefits are used. The Legislature enacted it twice in 2025, in chapters 344 and 390, and the 2025 edition prints it twice, as sections 14-140 and 14-142 with two revolving funds. Transfer to family. Section 14-142.1 lets the Adjutant General allow a member with six years in the Guard who agrees to four more to transfer up to 36 months of entitlement to a spouse or children, much like the federal Post-9/11 GI Bill transfer. A child may use it until 26, later if the child was a primary caregiver for a veteran or Guard member. Apply to the Educational Service Office of the Military Department before the semester starts.
