Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Washington County Parks: No Camping Fee for People 100 Percent Disabled or 65 and Older

MiscellaneousWashington County, FL · County

Washington County charges $10 to $25 a day or $50 to $100 a week to camp in its parks, but section 42-53 of its Code charges no fee to a camper who is over 65 or "100 percent disabled", camping with a spouse or dependent children; a permit is still needed. The Code does not say what proof of disability it takes.

100 percent disabled, or over 65. Free camping for a person 100 percent disabled, from any cause, or over 65, camping with a spouse or dependent children. A VA 100% rating is one way to show it; age alone also qualifies, so the filter does not hide the entry.

Washington County Property Appraiser: Veteran Exemptions

HousingWashington County, FL · County

Washington County's Property Appraiser, 1331 South Blvd., Suite 300, Chipley (850-638-6205), takes exemption applications by March 1. Its exemptions page limits the $5,000 exemption to a disability "caused by a service-connected disability" and its FAQ to a "war-time disability", where section 196.24 takes either, and neither page describes the combat discount, wheelchair or deployment exemptions, which appear only as forms.

10% for the $5,000 exemption; total and permanent for the full exemption. The $5,000 exemption starts at a 10% disability from wartime service or by misfortune. The full exemption needs a service-connected total and permanent disability. The 65-plus discount equals the combat-related percentage.

Washington County: No Local Business Tax to Exempt

Education & EmploymentWashington County, FL · County

The Washington County Code carries no local business tax - its taxation chapter holds only the elderly-parent homestead reduction, the local option gas tax and the senior homestead exemption - and the Tax Collector publishes no business tax service, so a veteran opening a business in unincorporated Washington County owes the county none. A city that levies one applies section 205.055.

No county business tax; statute applies where a city levies one. Washington County levies no local business tax, so no veteran exemption is needed at the county level. Any city tax follows section 205.055: honorable discharge, or a listed spouse.
