Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Indiana provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

The Howard County Recorder keeps veterans' recorded discharges closed to everyone but the veteran and next of kin and gives them copies free; its July 2025 DD214 sheet lists who may ask (the veteran, the county service office, State staff, a guardian, an attorney, a funeral director, the estate or next of kin) and sends anyone whose discharge is not on file to the Veterans Service Office.

Health careHoward County, IN · County

Howard County's Veterans Treatment Court, a certified problem-solving court in Superior Court II under Judge Blake N. Dahl, coordinated by Christine Oyler (765-614-3232), takes veterans and service members with a substance use disorder or a non-psychotic mental health condition related to service through a 12 to 36 month, four-phase programme with VA Veterans Justice Outreach, mentors and a court therapy dog; applicants pay programme fees and are barred by open warrants or prior convictions for rape, child molestation, murder or criminal confinement.

Justice-involved veteran. The court is for a veteran with a pending eligible case who volunteers and is accepted. A disability rating is not the test.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.
