Who. IC 21-13-1-4: a member of the Indiana National Guard "in active drilling status" who "has not been absent without leave within the twelve (12) months" before applying, with the academic qualifications and certification of Guard requirements. IC 21-13-1-8 also requires the member to have applied for and used other federal and state aid. How much. IC 21-13-4-2: at a state educational institution, a full undergraduate tuition scholarship "regardless as to whether the student uses the scholarship for undergraduate or graduate educational costs", reduced by other aid designated for educational costs. At an approved private institution, or since House Enrolled Act 1111 of 2025 at a credential, licensing, trade certification or apprenticeship program for an in-demand occupation named by the adjutant general and the Department of Workforce Development, the lesser of the remaining cost or $5,000. A member who also has a 21st Century Scholars award may use up to $5,000 a year for two years on approved expenses including room and board. How long. IC 21-12-13-2(c): no more than six academic years. The extension. IC 21-13-5 pays a scholarship to a former member who was using the grant when called to active duty, for a period no longer than the active duty served. The Army benefits library (re-read 2026-10-24) describes it as for service overseas after September 10, 2001 with an honorable discharge; the statute requires only a call to active duty while a grant recipient. Apply through the unit and the Guard Education Services Office before each term.

Expands benefits Raises the Guard funeral benefit from $8,800 to $20,000 and brings Guard members on state active duty into the $100,000 death benefit.

Amended IC 10-16-7-19(b) so the state pays reasonable funeral expenses up to $20,000, from $8,800, when a Guard member dies in the active service of the state; amended IC 5-10-11-3 so a Guard member on state active duty is a state employee for the $100,000 line-of-duty death benefit; made members on state duty state employees for workers' compensation; and opened the National Guard tuition supplement to credential, licensing, trade and apprenticeship programs. Approved May 1, 2025; the funeral figure took effect July 1, 2025. Flagged because the Army benefits library still prints $8,800.
