City of St. Louis

Street address

Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. City is what this city sets or runs itself. State is what Missouri provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

St. Louis City Assessor: Disabled Prisoner of War Tax Exemption

HousingCity of St. Louis, MO · City

The St. Louis City Assessor takes the State's exemption for a former prisoner of war with a total service-connected disability - the only veteran property tax exemption Missouri has - on the assessor's application and sworn affidavit of homestead; it applies to real property only, does not extend to surviving spouses, and does not cover 100% disabled veterans who were never POWs.

Total service-connected disability, as a former POW. The exemption needs a former prisoner of war with a total service-connected disability. The rating filter cannot test the POW element.

MiscellaneousCity of St. Louis, MO · City

The St. Louis City Recorder of Deeds records military discharge papers - the complete set including the DD-214 - in person at City Hall Room 124, 1200 Market Street, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., returning the original; discharges are closed records, available to the veteran, surviving spouse and the third parties state law names.

Any veteran. Recording a discharge is free and no rating is needed. The rating filter never hides this entry.

St. Louis City Veterans Court (22nd Judicial Circuit)

MiscellaneousCity of St. Louis, MO · City

The 22nd Judicial Circuit's Treatment Courts include a Veterans Court that diverts military veterans with mental health or substance abuse disorders from the criminal justice process through frequent judicial oversight, intensive supervision and treatment.

Justice-involved veteran. The court is for a veteran with a pending criminal case who volunteers and is accepted. A disability rating is not the test.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

VetTOC has not written a veterans service office for City of St. Louis yet. The state’s service offices below serve it.

    Missouri Veterans Service Officers

Commission staff may not accept or charge anything of value for helping a veteran, and doing so is a class A misdemeanour. The wider service officer network runs on matching grants from casino money rather than on a statutory officer in every county.
