Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

MiscellaneousCoffee County, GA · County

The Coffee County Clerk of Court - Elisa Gillis, 101 S. Peterson Ave., Suite B-18, Douglas (912-384-2865, [email protected], weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) - is the county's recorder of military discharges under O.C.G.A. 15-6-72 and 15-6-78; the county's own Clerk of Courts page names her and the e-filing routes and prints no discharge line, so the free recording and the 50-year closure rest on the State entries.

Any veteran with a discharge. The recording is free under O.C.G.A. 15-6-78 and the record is closed for fifty years under 15-6-72. No rating is needed.

Coffee County Tax Commissioner (Angela Harper) and the county’s own exemption page: the $50,000 disabled-veteran and surviving-spouse rows, filed with the Tax Commissioner

MiscellaneousCoffee County, GA · County

The Coffee County Tax Commissioner - Angela Harper, 224 Ashley St. W, Suite B, Douglas (912-384-4895, P.O. Box 1207, 101 S. Peterson Ave., weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., coffeecountypay.com) - and the county's own Assessor Exemptions page publish the county's veteran amounts: "Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veterans - Any qualifying disabled veteran may be granted an exemption of $50,000 from paying property taxes for state, county, municipal, and school purposes... This exemption is extended to the unremarried surviving spouse or minor children (O.C.G.A. 48-5-48)", and the $50,000 surviving-spouse row (48-5-52.1) - with the county's own wrinkle that "in Coffee County, the application is filed with the Tax Commissioners Office"; the assessors' Schneider record-search app was not read.

Qualifying disabled veteran or surviving spouse who owns and occupies the home. The exemption follows O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 and 48-5-52.1; the county’s own page prints the $50,000 amounts and routes the application to the Tax Commissioner. The rating filter never hides this entry.
