Street address

Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Georgia provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Brooks County Board of Commissioners (Chair Myra Exum): the 2025-2026 documents read whole - 174 files - with the VFW’s courthouse flags, the FLOST IGA, and VFW Post 5659 in Quitman

MiscellaneousBrooks County, GA · County

The Brooks County Board of Commissioners - Chair Myra Exum (District 4), Vice Chair James Maxwell (District 5), District 1 Lee Larko, District 2 Patrick Folsom and District 3 Willie Cody, with County Administrator James (Buddy) Johnson and County Clerk Patricia Williams, meeting at 5:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers at the Brooks County Courthouse, 610 South Highland Road, Quitman - whose 2025-2026 agenda and minutes documents (174 posted files, all read whole) carry the March 30, 2026 special called work session's "FA028-2026 - VFW - Flags Around the Courthouse" - "flags around the Courthouse that are placed every year by the local VFW. The Board wants to put something in place so the VFW will not need to contact the County each year to put the flags around the courthouse from May to July" - the May 4, 2026 "VFW flag sales announced for Memorial Day", and the July 6, 2026 unanimous FLOST IGA; VFW Post 5659 sits in Quitman and no American Legion post is listed in the county.

No eligibility - a board record. The record documents the board’s 2025-2026 minutes and the county’s organizations; it grants no individual entitlement.

Brooks County Clerk of Superior Court (Belinda Parker): the county’s recorder of military discharges

MiscellaneousBrooks County, GA · County

The Brooks County Clerk of Superior Court - Belinda Parker ([email protected]), Clerk of the Superior, State and Juvenile Courts, "an elected official, a constitutional officer" whose "office is a vital entity for all branches of the judicial system" - is the county's recorder of military discharges under O.C.G.A. 15-6-72 and 15-6-78; the county's own County Courts page prints no discharge line, so the free recording and the 50-year closure rest on the State entries.

Any veteran with a discharge. The recording is free under O.C.G.A. 15-6-78 and the record is closed for fifty years under 15-6-72. No rating is needed.

Brooks County Tax Commissioner (Becky Rothrock): the route through Chief Appraiser Wayne Waldron’s office and the FLOST the board approved to offset property taxes

MiscellaneousBrooks County, GA · County

The Brooks County Tax Commissioner - Becky Rothrock (229-263-4586, fax 229-263-9020, [email protected], brookscountytax.com) - and the Tax Assessor's Office (Chief Appraiser Wayne Waldron, 229-263-7920, fax 229-263-5125, 610 South Highland Street, open Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) take the exemption applications; the county's own pages print no veteran exemption amounts of their own, so the amounts rest on the State entries; the board's year carries the FLOST record - the July 6, 2026 unanimous approval of the 1-percent sales-tax IGA whose distribution "will be by the digest percentage ... Brooks County: 80.91%, Quitman: 16.05%; Morven: 1.86%; Barwick: 0.59%; Pavo: 0.6%", with the county's own meeting record noting "the county chose the FLOST because it benefits the Taxpayers by bringing personal tax down ... The money does not go to any general fund account; it directly benefits taxpayers"; the qPublic record-search site was not read (the gap goes to docs/COUNTY-REVISIT.md).

Qualifying disabled veteran or surviving spouse who owns and occupies the home. The exemption follows O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 and 48-5-52.1; the county offices take the application. The rating filter never hides this entry.
