Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Madison County Board of Commissioners (Chairman Todd Higdon): 134 posted 2025-2026 agendas and minutes read whole, naming no veteran item, with no county American Legion post

MiscellaneousMadison County, GA · County

The Madison County Board of Commissioners - Chairman Todd Higdon (a full-time chairman, 706-795-6301, [email protected]) with District 1 Dennis Adams, District 2 Terry Chandler, District 3 Frank May, District 4 Brian Kirk and District 5 Derek Doster, meeting at the Government Complex in Danielsville with County Clerk Christina Baxter and County Attorney Michael C. Pruett - whose 2025-2026 record (134 agenda-setting work sessions, regular board meetings, budget work sessions and public hearings posted to the county's own Drive links, read whole) names no veteran item; the Department of Georgia's post list names no American Legion post in Madison County.

No eligibility - a board record. The record documents the board’s posted 2025-2026 files and the absence of a county American Legion post; it grants no individual entitlement.

Madison County Clerk of Court (Katie Cross): the county’s recorder of military discharges, read through the clerk’s own archived site

MiscellaneousMadison County, GA · County

The Madison County Clerk of Court - Katie Cross, Superior Court, 91 Albany Ave., P.O. Box 247, Danielsville (706-795-6310, fax 706-795-2209) - is the county's recorder of military discharges under O.C.G.A. 15-6-72 and 15-6-78; the clerk's own site (read through the January 20, 2026 Internet Archive capture after the live site began answering a Cloudflare-style block to plain fetch) carries the office's services and court links and prints no discharge line, so the free recording and the 50-year closure rest on the State entries.

Any veteran with a discharge. The recording is free under O.C.G.A. 15-6-78 and the record is closed for fifty years under 15-6-72. No rating is needed.

Box 217) - takes homestead applications through the Property Valuation office January 1 to April 1 per the county's own 2025 Taxpayer Brochure, which carries the round's fullest printed veteran amounts: "Disabled Veterans Homestead Exemption is available to certain disabled veterans in an amount up to $121,812", extended to "the un-remarried surviving spouse or minor children", and "The Un-Remarried Surviving Spouse of a Disabled Veteran Exemption shall be granted in an amount up to $121,812 from all ad valorem taxes levied, if such person's spouse, who as a member of the armed forces of the United States, was killed or died as a result of any war or armed conflict. Qualifying disabled veteran or surviving spouse who owns and occupies the home. The exemption follows O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 and 48-5-52.1 at the amounts the county’s own brochure prints; the assessor’s office takes the application by April 1. The rating filter never hides this entry.
