Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Haralson County Clerk of Superior Court (Amy R. Muse): the county’s recorder of military discharges

MiscellaneousHaralson County, GA · County

The Haralson County Clerk of Superior Court - Amy R. Muse, 4485 GA Hwy. 120, Buchanan (770-646-2005, fax 770-646-8827, weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., P.O. Box 849) - is the county's recorder of military discharges under O.C.G.A. 15-6-72 and 15-6-78; the county's clerk page calls the office "one of four Constitutional officers" whose "statutory duties are found in the Official Code of Georgia in hundreds of statutes" and prints no discharge line, so the free recording and the 50-year closure rest on the State entries.

Any veteran with a discharge. The recording is free under O.C.G.A. 15-6-78 and the record is closed for fifty years under 15-6-72. No rating is needed.

Haralson County Tax Commissioner (Natasha Overbey Pope): the April 1 exemption route and the assessors’ veteran-application duty

MiscellaneousHaralson County, GA · County

The Haralson County Tax Commissioner - Natasha Overbey Pope, 4276 Georgia Highway 120, Buchanan (770-646-2020, fax 770-646-8677, weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., P.O. Box 330, haralsoncountypay.com) - takes homestead applications year-round with an April 1 deadline under the county's Tax Calculations and Exceptions page, and the Board of Tax Assessors' own page lists among its duties to "Manage applications for homestead exemption (regular, senior, disabled veterans, survivors of disabled veterans, surviving spouse of U.S service member killed in action, or surviving spouse of a peace officer or firefighter killed in the line of duty)"; the county's pages print no veteran amounts, so the State's veteran rows rest on the State entries.

Qualifying disabled veteran or surviving spouse who owns and occupies the home. The exemption follows O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 and 48-5-52.1; the commissioner’s office takes the application by April 1 and the State entries carry the indexed amount. The rating filter never hides this entry.
