Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Georgia provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Emanuel County Clerk of Superior Court (Kristin Hall): the county’s recorder of military discharges

MiscellaneousEmanuel County, GA · County

The Emanuel County Clerk of Superior Court - Kristin Hall, whose office serves the superior, state and juvenile courts and acts as the county's official recordkeeper and custodian of land and property records - is the county's recorder of military discharges under O.C.G.A. 15-6-72 and 15-6-78; the county's own Clerk of Superior Court page prints the jury information, the traffic-citation payments, the notary commissions and the court schedules and no discharge line, so the free recording and the 50-year closure rest on the State entries.

Any veteran with a discharge. The recording is free under O.C.G.A. 15-6-78 and the record is closed for fifty years under 15-6-72. No rating is needed.

Emanuel County Tax Commissioner (Jessica Underwood Moran): the county’s own printed Disabled Veteran and surviving-spouse rows at $32,500 and $60,000 against the $117,014 cap

MiscellaneousEmanuel County, GA · County

The Emanuel County Tax Commissioner - Jessica Underwood Moran, 223 W. Moring St., Suite 136, Swainsboro, GA 30401 (P.O. Box 763, 478-237-3351, fax 478-289-8363, [email protected], Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., emanuelcountytax.com) - and the Tax Assessor's Office (101 South Main Street, 3rd Floor, 478-237-1222) take the exemption applications, and the county's own Exemptions page prints the veteran rows themselves: "The Disabled Veteran or Surviving Spouse Exemption provides at least $32,500 or a higher amount based on federal law off the assessed value of a home, not to exceed a $117,014 maximum as set in 2024. This exemption covers all state, county, municipal, and school property taxes" (O.C.G.A. 48-5-48), and "The Surviving Spouse of U.S. Service Member Exemption applies to $60,000 worth of all county, municipal, and school property taxes, plus an additional amount set by the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs, capping at $117,014 as specified in state code in 2024" (48-5-52.1); "Generally, Emanuel County real estate and business personal property taxes are due by December 20"; the qPublic record-search site was not read (the gap goes to docs/COUNTY-REVISIT.md).

Qualifying disabled veteran or surviving spouse who owns and occupies the home. The exemption follows O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 and 48-5-52.1; the county’s own Exemptions page prints its Disabled Veteran and surviving-spouse rows and the application route. The rating filter never hides this entry.
