Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Dawson County Board of Commissioners: the year of Veterans Memorial Park - the emergency shoring, the SPLOST VII million, the pavilion-repair contract - with American Legion Post 247 in the county

MiscellaneousDawson County, GA · County

The Dawson County Board of Commissioners - Chairman Billy Thurmond, District 1 Commissioner Seth Stowers, District 2 Commissioner Chris Gaines, District 3 Commissioner Alexa Bruce and District 4 Commissioner Chad Turkett, all elected at-large, meeting the first and third Thursday with a 4 p.m. work session and a voting session following, at 25 Justice Way, Dawsonville (706-344-3500) - whose 2025-2026 record (265 agenda, packet and minutes files read whole) carries the year's veteran items, all about the county's own Veterans Memorial Park: the October 2, 2025 ratification of the pavilion's emergency shoring, the February 5, 2026 SPLOST VII list's "$1,000,000 ... field improvements, lighting improvements, and pickle ball courts", and the February 19 to March 19, 2026 IFB #493-25 pavilion-repair contract passed 4-0; American Legion Post 247 meets in Dawsonville.

No eligibility - a board record. The record documents the board’s posted 2025-2026 files and the county’s veterans organizations; it grants no individual entitlement.

Dawson County Clerk of the Court (Justin Power): the recorder of military discharges

MiscellaneousDawson County, GA · County

The Dawson County Clerk of the Court - Justin Power, Clerk of Superior and Juvenile Courts, elected 2010, 25 Justice Way, Suite 1302, Dawsonville, GA 30534 (706-344-3510, fax 706-344-3511, weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) - is the county's recorder of military discharges under O.C.G.A. 15-6-72 and 15-6-78; the county's own clerk page lists the records the office is custodian of but no discharge line, so the free recording and the 50-year closure rest on the State entries.

Any veteran with a discharge. The recording is free under O.C.G.A. 15-6-78 and the record is closed for fifty years under 15-6-72. No rating is needed.

Dawson County Tax Commissioner (Nicole Stewart Brooksher) and the Board of Tax Assessors: the warranty-deed route and the exemption detail held on the unreadable assessors’ site

MiscellaneousDawson County, GA · County

The Dawson County Tax Commissioner - Nicole Stewart Brooksher, 25 Justice Way, Suite 1222, Dawsonville, GA 30534 (706-344-3520, [email protected], weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., dawsoncountytax.com) - points the homestead detail at the Tax Assessor's Office: the Catalis site's FAQ reads "bring a copy of your warranty deed to the Tax Assessor's office between January 2 and April 1" and "Contact the Dawson County Tax Assessor's Office for details of the available exemptions"; the assessors' own site (dawsonassessors.com, Chief Appraiser Elaine Garrett, 25 Justice Way, Suite 1201, 706-344-3590) answers a Cloudflare challenge and its qPublic record-search site was not read, so the veteran amounts remain the State's.

Qualifying disabled veteran or surviving spouse who owns and occupies the home. The exemption follows O.C.G.A. 48-5-48 and 48-5-52.1; the county offices take the application and publish no veteran amounts of their own. The rating filter never hides this entry.
