A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Madera County Assessor: Disabled Veterans' Exemption

HousingMadera County, CA · County

The Madera County Assessor decides the disabled veterans' exemption on the county's own FAQ: a veteran '100% disabled or unemployable due to a service-related condition,' blind in both eyes, or with the use of more than one limb lost, or the unmarried surviving spouse, on the veteran's or spouse's main home; file by January 1 after the VA disability date or within 90 days of the VA letter, whichever is later, with a by-February-15 100 percent / by-December-10 90 percent late-filing rule, and the claim is made on BOE-261-G through the county's online forms.

100% or compensated at 100% for unemployability. The State exemption needs a 100% rating, permanent or not, compensation at 100% for unemployability, blindness in both eyes, or loss of the use of two or more limbs.

Madera County Business License Fee Exemption for Veterans

MiscellaneousMadera County, CA · County

Madera County charges a qualifying veteran no unincorporated-county business licence fee: Code section 5.04.190 exempts every honorably discharged veteran who qualifies under Business and Professions Code section 16102 from the licence fee itself, keeps the application requirement, and refers every claim to the county's Veterans Service Office for investigation and recommendation.

Veterans under Business and Professions Code 16102. Discharge under honorable conditions and ownership of the goods sold are the tests; the ordinance names section 16102. No rating is needed; the licence application must still be filed.

Madera County Civil Service Veterans' Preference

Education & EmploymentMadera County, CA · County

Madera County's classified-service rules give veterans a preference credit in open competitive examinations once the passing score is reached: the County Code sets five percent of the credits earned, with an additional five percent for honorably discharged veterans with service-connected disabilities, and the Civil Service Rules in force state the credit as five points, ten if disabled, with no credit in promotional examinations.

Veteran status proven with the application. The ordinance follows Government Code 18973; the rules keep their own definition and add the ten-point credit for a veteran rated at least 10 percent disabled and drawing compensation.
