The Madera Superior Court runs a Veterans' Treatment Court: its own staff pages name Judge D. Lynn Collet as the Presiding Judge of the Behavioral Health Court, the Veterans' Treatment Court and the Appellate Department, hearing all those matters from Department 40, and the court's local rules print the title on their cover.
Also called: veterans court, veterans treatment court, VTC, collaborative court, drug court, 1170.9, Collet, Department 40, Madera, Chowchilla, Firebaugh, Oakhurst, Coarsegold, Planada, Madera Acres, Bonadelle Ranchos, Rolling Hills.
California's veterans treatment courts rest on Penal Code section 1170.9 and military diversion on section 1001.80; see the California entry. The court's own record of its court, both read 2026-10-21: the judiciary page says Judge Collet "is also assigned to all Behavioral Health Court and Veterans' Treatment Court hearings. Judge Collet is the Presiding Judge of the Behavioral Health Court, the Veterans' Treatment Court and is the Presiding Judge of the Appellate Department. She is assigned to Department 40," and the local rules effective January 1, 2026 (updated through July 1, 2026) carry "HON. D. LYNN COLLET, APPELLATE, VETERANS TREATMENT, & BEHAVIORAL COURT PRESIDING JUDGE" on their first page.
What is not published. The court's site carries no veterans-court programme page, no eligibility rules, no referral form and no schedule; its criminal division, local-rules, self-help and news pages name no collaborative courts at all, and no other county page describes the court. The Judicial Council's veterans-treatment-courts page again rendered no county list when re-read on 2026-10-21 (docs/COUNTY-REVISIT.md), so the entry rests on the court's own two pages. A veteran charged in Madera County should ask counsel or the Public Defender about referral, and can get the VA side started through the county Veterans Service Office.
