Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Storey County Assessor: Veterans' and Disabled Veterans' Exemptions

HousingStorey County, NV · County

The Storey County Assessor (Jana Seddon, 775-847-0961, Courthouse, 26 S. B Street, Virginia City) administers the State's exemptions; the office publishes no exemption text of its own, so the 2026-27 figures and the claim mechanics rest on the Nevada entries.

60% permanent for the disabled veteran exemption. The disabled veteran exemption starts at a permanent service-connected disability of 60%, counting separate ratings added together. The general veteran exemption needs qualifying service and no rating.

Storey County grants the Veterans of Foreign Wars Evans-Kendall Post 8071 up to $12,000 for FY 2026-2027 services to veterans and the county (Resolution 26-824, approved 2-0 on July 21, 2026), and its Board recognized the couple behind Virginia City's C Street Veteran Banner Program, running since 2012, by Resolution 26-831.

Grant money, not an entitlement. The VFW grant is an annual Board resolution capped at $12,000 for FY 2026-2027; the banner program is county-recognized volunteer work. No rating is needed.
