Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Nebraska provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Seward County Veteran of the Month

MiscellaneousSeward County, NE · County

Most months Seward County’s Veterans Service Officer introduces a Veteran of the Month at a Board of Commissioners meeting, often nominated by a VFW post, and the minutes record the veteran’s service: nine veterans were honoured between September 2025 and August 2026, from a Vietnam Marine to a Guard soldier with three Afghanistan deployments.

Any Seward County veteran, often nominated by a veterans post. Recognition only; no rating or discharge test is stated.

Seward County Veterans Aid (Soldiers/Sailors Relief)

MiscellaneousSeward County, NE · County

Seward County takes county veterans aid applications under section 80-102 through its Veterans Service Office, but its Soldiers/Sailors Relief fund has paid no aid since at least 2023: it holds $5,052.26, the county levies nothing for it, and the Board cut the office’s 2026-2027 request of $10,052.26 back to the $5,052.26 already in the fund.

Veteran, spouse, surviving spouse or minor child in need. Section 80-102 as amended in 2024: honorable or general service, a year in Nebraska and six months in Seward County, and need the committee assesses. No rating is required.

Every county runs its own veterans relief fund off a dedicated levy, decided locally by the county veterans service committee. A refusal from the state fund is not a refusal from this one.
