Banner County

Street address

Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Nebraska provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Banner County Veterans Aid, through the Scotts Bluff County office

MiscellaneousBanner County, NE · County

Banner County keeps no section 80-102 aid fund and budgets no aid line; its only veterans line is the $3,000 a year it budgets for Scotts Bluff County’s officer in Gering, through whom Banner County veterans apply, and a Banner County Veterans Memorial is planned for the east side of the Harrisburg courthouse.

Veteran, spouse, surviving spouse or minor child in need. Section 80-102 as amended in 2024: honorable or general service, a year in Nebraska and six months in Banner County, and need the committee assesses. No rating is required.

Scotts Bluff County’s Veterans Service Office in the Administration Building in Gering, under Veterans Service Officer Matthew Meyers, files VA claims and health care applications, books the Thursday DAV vans to the Hot Springs and Cheyenne VA medical centres, and also serves Banner and Kimball Counties; it moved to shorter Friday hours from October 23, 2026.

Any veteran or dependent in Scotts Bluff, Banner or Kimball County. Claims help, VA health care applications and DAV van rides need no rating; the rating filter never hides this entry.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

    Nebraska County Veterans Aid Fund

Every county runs its own veterans relief fund off a dedicated levy, decided locally by the county veterans service committee. A refusal from the state fund is not a refusal from this one.
