Lorain County doubled every homestead credit, the disabled veteran's included, on tax year 2025 bills paid in 2026, then rescinded the local option on June 30, 2026, so January 2027 bills carry only the State credit. The Auditor's page leaves out the unemployability route and surviving spouses.
100% service-connected. A total rating of 100% for service-connected disability, or compensation at 100% for individual unemployability.
The Los Angeles County Assessor takes the disabled veterans' exemption claim, form BOE-261-G, by mail only, and will not accept sensitive documents sent electronically. From the 2027 lien date the larger SB 296 exemption is claimed the same way.
100% or compensated at 100% for unemployability. The State exemption needs a 100% rating, compensation at 100% for unemployability, blindness in both eyes, or loss of the use of two or more limbs.
The State's property tax relief for disabled veteran homeowners and their surviving spouses is applied for at the Loudon County Trustee, Chip Miller (P.O. Box 351, Loudon; 865-458-3103), for county taxes, and at Lenoir City's or Loudon's own collecting official for city taxes; the county adds nothing of its own.
Permanent and total, as VA determines it. The State relief the Loudon County Trustee takes applications for. The rating route in 67-5-704(b)(3) asks for service-connected permanent and total disability as determined by VA, which a veteran paid at the total rate through unemployability that VA has found permanent also holds. It is recorded rather than enforced because the paraplegia, blindness and loss-of-limbs route and the prisoner of war route need no rating at all.
Loudoun exempts the primary home and up to three acres for a veteran VA rates 100% service-connected, permanent, and total, or permanent and total through individual unemployability.
100% permanent and total. Loudoun applies the statewide exemption to the primary home and up to three acres. It does not add an income test. One path is a VA rating of 100% that is service-connected, permanent, and total.
Income-based relief on the home and up to three acres for a Loudoun resident who is permanently and totally disabled. Disability income is excluded. This is separate from the 100% service-connected exemption.
Permanent and total disability. The applicant, or a spouse, has to be permanently and totally disabled as of December 31 of the prior year, or age 65. VA, Social Security, or the county medical affidavit can document the disability. A VA rating alone is not the test.
Louisa County’s Commissioner of the Revenue takes the statewide home exemption for a veteran rated 100% service-connected, permanent, and total. Its page says only the house is exempt, but because the county’s elderly relief reaches ten acres, state law carries up to ten acres to the veteran. The page and form still tie a surviving spouse to the same home.
100% permanent and total. Louisa County applies the statewide exemption to the house and, by section 58.1-3219.5(C), the acreage of its elderly relief, up to ten acres. It does not add an income test. One path is a VA rating of 100% that is service-connected, permanent, and total.
Louisa County relieves 45% to 100% of real estate tax, up to $3,000, on the home and up to ten acres of a permanently and totally disabled owner with household income up to $55,000 and net worth up to $200,000. The income tiers were raised 10% on May 4, 2026. A VA certification is accepted.
Permanent and total disability. The owner is permanently and totally disabled and unable to work, or 65. VA, Social Security, the Railroad Retirement Board, or two doctors can certify it. A VA rating alone is not the test.
Three tiers on top of the regular homestead exemption: $2,500 more of assessed value at 50%, $4,500 more at 70%, and the entire remaining assessed value at 100% or unemployability. Municipal taxes are the catch.
Service-connected rating of 50% or more. The first tier opens at 50 percent. Fifty percent is where most of Louisiana's veteran benefits begin, which is lower than any other state in this catalog. A veteran who crosses from 40 to 50 percent should re-read the whole Louisiana list rather than just this entry.
Freezes the homestead assessment at its first qualifying year for a veteran at 50% or more, subject to an income cap of $100,000 indexed to inflation. A veteran under 65 must recertify income every year.
Service-connected rating of 50% or more. The freeze opens at a 50 percent service-connected rating. Fifty percent is where most of Louisiana's veteran benefits begin, which is lower than any other state in this catalog. A veteran who crosses from 40 to 50 percent should re-read the whole Louisiana list rather than just this entry.
Lowell indexes its veteran exemptions for fiscal 2027: $410.80 under clause 22, $770.25, $1,283.75 and $1,540.50 under 22A to 22C, and $1,027 under 22E, with full exemption under 22D, 22F and 22H. It also runs a veterans’ tax work-off worth up to $1,000.
A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relative. Clause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.
The Lowndes County Tax Assessor, Greg Andrews (homestead desk 662-329-5767), takes homestead applications January 2 to April 1, including the State's full exemption for a 100% service-connected disabled veteran with proof from VA; the assessor's page does not mention the State's exemption for an honorably discharged veteran 90 or older (85 for claims in 2027).
100% service-connected, or an honorably discharged veteran 90 or older. The assessor asks a 100% service-connected veteran for proof from VA; the age route needs an honourable discharge and no rating (85 for claims in 2027).
Lowndes County's exemptions page lists the disabled veteran exemption (codes S5, SD, SS) for a veteran 100% disabled service-connected, on a VA letter, extended to the unremarried surviving spouse or minor children, but still prints an older amount ($100,896) and the April 1 deadline; for 2026 the State amount is $126,526 and filing runs to the end of the appeal window.
100% service-connected. One path is a 100% rating under section 48-5-48; unemployability paid at the 100% rate and statutory awards are other paths the filter does not test.
The Lubbock Central Appraisal District's FAQ answers the veteran exemption questions directly - the partial exemption from a 10% rating with VA documentation, the 100% homestead under 11.131 with mid-year proration, and never a fee to apply - and takes homestead applications, the 100% disabled veteran one included, online through its property-search portal. Its site answers a Cloudflare Turnstile that headless Chrome cannot pass, so its FAQ and forms pages rest on the Internet Archive's captures.
10% for the partial exemption; 100% or unemployable for the homestead. The partial exemption starts at a 10% rating. The total homestead exemption needs 100% compensation with a 100% or unemployability rating. The surviving spouse exemptions need no rating.
Lucas County's Auditor takes the State's disabled veteran homestead application, covering both a 100% rating and unemployability paid at 100%, but asks for a DD-214 showing an honorable discharge where the statute accepts any discharge under honorable conditions.
100% service-connected. A total rating of 100% for service-connected disability, or compensation at 100% for individual unemployability.
Ludlow’s assessors’ page prints no clause amounts and its site answers a bare 403, so this entry gives the statute’s, read through the Internet Archive; the town’s veterans’ department serves its own site from ludlowveterans.us, which answers 403 to curl too.
Lunenburg’s Assessors’ Department administers "all statutory tax exemptions as allowed by law" and prints no amounts, and its Veteran’s Services Department names Michelle Durkee the agent - the directory’s row for the town a phone with a digit too many - so this entry gives the statute’s.
Lyme’s assessor page lists veterans among the exemption programs the office administers without printing an amount, and OLR’s survey recorded no municipal option.
Wartime service or a VA rating, set by state law. The exemptions rest on C.G.S. 12-81(19) to (26): 90 days of wartime service with a qualifying discharge filed with the town clerk, or a VA disability rating. Amounts above the base turn on rating and income. The rating filter does not hide this entry.
Lynn prints one amount, $845, for its disabled veterans’ exemptions, which is the statute’s $400 under clause 22 indexed for fiscal 2026 and 2027 and doubled. It gives no separate figure for 22A to 22E.
The Lyon County Assessor administers the State's veteran, disabled veteran and surviving spouse exemptions against real property, personal property or the vehicle privilege tax, with the real-property claim or renewal signed by June 15. The county's own page still prints the 2025-26 disabled-veteran amounts, so the 2026-27 figures rest on the Nevada entries.
60% permanent for the disabled veteran exemption. The disabled veteran exemption starts at a permanent service-connected disability of 60%, counting separate ratings added together. The general veteran exemption needs qualifying service and no rating.
Macon County's Supervisor of Assessments is the Chief County Assessment Office for the veterans exemptions: the Standard Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities files on PTAX-342 with the office, the Specially Adapted Housing exemption and the Returning Veterans' Homestead Exemption (PTAX-341) file there too, and the office posts the forms.
The partial disabled-veteran exemption starts at a 30% rating. The county applies the State schedule through the Chief County Assessment Office; file PTAX-342 there.
Macon-Bibb County waives its residential solid waste fee (base $60 a quarter) for a homeowner the VA or Social Security has found totally (100 percent) disabled and unable to work, on the home they own outright and live in; apply to the Solid Waste Department by November 1 for the next year, and the exemption then runs without renewal until the home changes hands.
100% service-connected. A VA finding of total (100 percent) disability; the owner must own the home outright and live in it.
The Madera County Assessor decides the disabled veterans' exemption on the county's own FAQ: a veteran '100% disabled or unemployable due to a service-related condition,' blind in both eyes, or with the use of more than one limb lost, or the unmarried surviving spouse, on the veteran's or spouse's main home; file by January 1 after the VA disability date or within 90 days of the VA letter, whichever is later, with a by-February-15 100 percent / by-December-10 90 percent late-filing rule, and the claim is made on BOE-261-G through the county's online forms.
100% or compensated at 100% for unemployability. The State exemption needs a 100% rating, permanent or not, compensation at 100% for unemployability, blindness in both eyes, or loss of the use of two or more limbs.
The Madison County Tax Collector, Chera Glenn, Huntsville ((479) 738-6673), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption; her page asks disabled veterans and their widows to send in the VA award letter and says letters received after October 15 do not count for that year's taxes, and since Act 876 of 2025 the letter is a one-time filing.
100% permanent and total, special monthly compensation, or qualifying survivor. The county collector administers the State exemption under Ark. Code Ann. Section 26-3-306. The disability test is the State test, not a county one.
The Madison County Tax Assessor, Canton (601-859-1921), takes homestead applications by April 1, including the State's full exemption for a veteran rated 100% service-connected, with the VA letter showing the claim number, and for an honorably discharged veteran 90 or older (85 for claims in 2027).
100% service-connected, or an honorably discharged veteran 90 or older. The county asks a 100% service-connected veteran for the VA letter with the claim number; the age route needs an honourable discharge and no rating (85 for claims in 2027).
Madison County's veterans property tax exemptions are the State's local-option alternative, Cold War and eligible funds exemptions, filed with the town or city assessor by March 1 (May 1 in the City of Oneida); the county had not adopted the new full exemption for veterans rated permanently and totally disabled by October 2026, though a resident asked the Board to three times in early 2026.
Half the disability rating reduces assessed value further. The alternative and Cold War exemptions add half the service-connected rating, up to local limits; the full exemption, not adopted by the county, needs a permanent and total rating.
How Madison County administers Tennessee's disabled veteran property tax relief: the Trustee takes the applications and the State reimburses part or all of the paid property tax - a payment, not an exemption, so the veteran still receives the tax bill.
State disabled-veteran tax relief rules apply. Eligibility and amounts are set by Tennessee Code 67-5-704; the Trustee takes the application.
The Madison County Chief County Assessment Office takes the State's veteran exemption forms (PTAX-342 and its yearly renewal, PTAX-341 for returning veterans) and says correctly that a 100% permanent and total or World War II veteran need not renew. The Veterans Assistance Commission helps get the VA benefit summary letter the application needs.
At least 30% service-connected. The standard exemption starts at a 30% rating and steps up at 50% and 70%. The returning veterans and World War II exemptions do not turn on a percentage.
The Madison County PVA (Billy Ackerman, PVA) takes the homestead exemption for an owner classified totally disabled by a federal programme such as the Veterans Administration, $49,100 of assessed value for 2025-2026, at 135 W. Irvine Street, Suite 103, Richmond (859-623-5410); a service-connected totally disabled veteran is excused from reapplying every year.
Classified totally disabled by a federal programme, including the VA. The applicant must be classified totally disabled for the whole year and receive disability payments under that classification. A VA total rating or individual unemployability counts; a partial rating does not.
The Madison County Tax Assessor grants the State’s full exemption to a permanently and totally disabled owner, with no income limit, on a VA benefits letter, a Social Security award or two physician forms, by December 31. One of its own pages wrongly puts the disabled owner under the $12,000 income test, and none mentions the October 2026 end of annual verification for VA permanent and total veterans.
Permanent and total disability, no income limit. Alabama uses its own permanent and total test, proved by a VA or Social Security letter or two physician forms. The rating filter cannot test it.
Madison’s assessor prints its veterans’ amounts with the revaluation increases of 12-62g - a $9,000 wartime exemption and rating tiers to $31,500, each doubled for the income-based additional exemption - and its Code § 20-12 gives the gold star parents’ and spouses’ exemption of 12-81ii.
The Mahoning County Auditor takes the State's disabled veteran homestead application, DTE 105I, and its flyer names the individual unemployability route, but its $50,000 figure is the older one and its own site answers a Cloudflare challenge to curl and headless Chrome; the commissioners adopted no 319.304 local option.
100% service-connected. A total rating of 100% for service-connected disability, or compensation at 100% for individual unemployability.
A half-point interest rate discount on a MaineHousing 30-year fixed mortgage for a veteran or service member, with the first-time homebuyer requirement waived under the Salute Home Again variant.
180 days of service, or active duty or retired status. The gate is active duty or retired status, or veteran status with an honorable discharge and 180 or more days of service. No disability rating is involved, so the rating filter never hides this benefit.
$50,000 of just value off the homestead for a wartime veteran who received a federal specially adapted housing grant, and for an unremarried surviving spouse of such a veteran.
A federal specially adapted housing grant. The test is receipt of a grant from the United States Government for specially adapted housing under 38 U.S.C. 2101, not a combined rating. The rating filter never hides this benefit, because no percentage appears in the statute.
$6,000 of just value off the homestead for a wartime veteran who has reached 62, or at any age for a veteran receiving compensation for a total disability. The application deadline is April 1 and it is filed once.
Total disability compensation, including nonservice-connected. At 62 the statute accepts any form of pension or compensation from the United States for total disability, service-connected or nonservice-connected. At any age it accepts compensation for total, service-connected disability from a line-of-duty injury or disease. Neither test names a percentage, so a veteran paid at the total rate through individual unemployability should read the statute rather than a summary, and the rating filter never hides this benefit.
Malden’s guide to application dates lists the veterans’ exemptions, clauses 22 and 22D, with the filing deadlines but no amount, so this entry gives the statute’s: $400 for a veteran rated 10 percent or more, and full exemption under 22D.
Manatee County grants up to $1,500 a year, capped at the county's own property tax paid, to a homesteading resident who served in the Afghanistan or Persian Gulf combat zones in that year, or to the unremarried surviving spouse. Apply by December 31 of the fourth tax year after the service. Grants are subject to appropriation, and the county's page names a different office to run it than the Code does.
Manatee homestead and service in a designated combat zone. A serving or honorably discharged member with a Manatee homestead who served in the Afghanistan or Persian Gulf combat zones that year, or the unremarried surviving spouse. No rating is involved.
The Manatee County Code waives the residential security deposit on an individually metered county water and sewer account, $165 for a single-family home, for disabled veterans and active-duty military. The Utilities department's account page does not mention the waiver, so ask for it when opening the account.
Disabled veterans and active-duty members. A disabled veteran or an active-duty member opening an individually metered residential county utility account. The Code sets no rating floor.
Manchester’s Code § 285-4 adds $5,000 to the state additional exemption for a veteran under the state income limit and adopts the 12-81g(b) option. Since December 2025 its code also grants the 12-81pp unemployability exemption, the dwelling exemption to surviving spouses of veterans who died before October 2024, and $20,000 to a Gold Star parent.
Mansfield’s assessor takes DD-214s by October 1, prints the income limits $46,300 single and $56,500 married for the low-income veteran programs, and takes the D-2 dwelling application by January 1 from the October 1, 2025 grand list; the survey recorded a $2,000 local option.
Mansfield’s pages print no clause amounts and its site answers a Cloudflare challenge, so this entry gives the statute’s, read through the Internet Archive’s captures.
Marblehead’s Assessor’s Office page administers statutory exemptions without an amount and its site answers a bare 403, so this entry gives the statute’s, read through the Internet Archive’s captures.
How the Maricopa County Assessor runs the state exemption for 2026: the home fully exempt at a 100% schedular rating, $4,873 of assessed value times the rating below that, an income limit of $39,865 applied to every veteran, and applications due February 28. The Assessor asks for an honorable discharge where the statute says under honorable conditions.
100% for the full exemption; any rating for the partial amount. A 100% service-connected schedular rating fully exempts the home. Any lower service-connected rating, or a nonservice-connected rating, gets $4,873 of assessed value times the percentage for 2026.
The Marin County Assessor takes the State's disabled veterans' exemption with VA proof of disability and discharge papers, and the small veterans' exemption for a veteran owning no more than $5,000 of property ($10,000 if married). Its page calls the disabled test "a 100% disability" and puts the late-claim rule at 85%; the statute also takes unemployability and gives 90% to a claim filed by December 10.
100% or compensated at 100% for unemployability. The State exemption needs a 100% rating, permanent or not, compensation at 100% for unemployability, blindness in both eyes, or loss of the use of two or more limbs.
The Marion County Collector, Carla Purdome, in the courthouse at 300 E. Old Main Street, Yellville (870-449-6253), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption on the home and personal property; her page says nothing about it, and since Act 876 of 2025 the VA letter is a one-time filing.
100% permanent and total, special monthly compensation, or qualifying survivor. The county collector administers the State exemption under Ark. Code Ann. Section 26-3-306. The disability test is the State test, not a county one.
Marion County refunds up to $1,000 a year of the county's own property tax to a homesteading resident who served in the Afghanistan or Persian Gulf combat zones in that year, under Ordinance 05-33. Apply in person to Veterans Services, with orders, the DD-214 and the paid tax bill, within four years.
Marion homestead and service in a designated combat zone. A serving or former member with a Marion homestead who was ordered into the Afghanistan or Persian Gulf combat zones that year. No rating is involved.
The Marion County Auditor tells every totally disabled veteran to file again for the new 100% deduction, even one already approved, by January 15, 2027, and to call for the new application because the one online is the old form. Partially disabled veterans' deductions are converted to the $350 and $250 credits automatically.
10% or more for the credits. The $350 and $250 credits start at a 10% disability. The 100% deduction needs a total disability, which a VA pension certificate can also show, so the rating is recorded, not enforced.
Marlborough’s assessor page names the exemption programs the office handles and posts the state’s biennial additional-veterans application without printing an amount; the town’s code is on eCode360 behind its Cloudflare challenge.
Marlborough’s assessors post no clause 22 amount, so this entry gives the statute’s: $400 for a veteran rated 10 percent or more, and full exemption under 22D and 22F.
