Lynn Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Lynn prints one amount, $845, for its disabled veterans’ exemptions, which is the statute’s $400 under clause 22 indexed for fiscal 2026 and 2027 and doubled. It gives no separate figure for 22A to 22E.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Lynn.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The City of Lynn grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a city can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessors’ personal exemptions page lists “Disabled Veterans (Clauses 22, 22A, 22B, 22C, 22D, 22E, Paraplegic)” with a single exemption amount of $845. That is what the statute’s $400 under clause 22 becomes when raised by the Department of Revenue’s clause 22I adjustments for fiscal 2026 and 2027 and doubled, as Quincy’s $845.43 is; the page names neither clause, and the council’s vote was not found. It cannot be the amount under 22A to 22E, which start higher, and 22D and the paraplegic exemption are full, so ask the assessors for the amount under any clause other than 22. The page says the veterans’ exemption applications have been mailed, and that a veteran needs only a sufficient beneficial interest in the home. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Lynn Veterans Services. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relativeClause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
