Lubbock Central Appraisal District: Disabled Veteran Exemptions

The Lubbock Central Appraisal District's FAQ answers the veteran exemption questions directly - the partial exemption from a 10% rating with VA documentation, the 100% homestead under 11.131 with mid-year proration, and never a fee to apply - and takes homestead applications, the 100% disabled veteran one included, online through its property-search portal. Its site answers a Cloudflare Turnstile that headless Chrome cannot pass, so its FAQ and forms pages rest on the Internet Archive's captures.

The exemptions are the State's; the Texas entries explain them. The Lubbock Central Appraisal District grants them for property in Lubbock County, from 2109 Avenue Q, Lubbock, Texas 79411 (P.O. Box 10542, Lubbock, Texas 79408); 806-762-5000, extension 5 for homestead questions; [email protected]; fax 806-762-2451. The district's site answers a Cloudflare Turnstile that headless Chrome cannot pass, so its FAQ and Forms pages were read from the Internet Archive's captures; the notes below are theirs, dated March 2024. Partial exemption (Tax Code 11.22). "You may qualify for a property tax deduction if you are either (1) a veteran who was disabled while serving with the U.S. armed forces or (2) the surviving spouse (if unmarried) or child (if under 18 years of age) of a disabled veteran", the FAQ answers. A Texas resident must provide documentation from the Veterans Administration reflecting the percentage of service-connected disability, and the rating must be at least 10%; "the exemption amount varies depending on the disability level". 100% homestead (Tax Code 11.131). "Tax Code Section 11.131 provides an exemption of the total appraised value of the residence homestead of Texas veterans awarded 100 percent compensation ... due to a 100 percent disability rating or determination of individual unemployability", and it "only applies to a disabled veteran's residence homestead". A person qualifying after January 1 of a tax year "may receive the exemption immediately on qualification for the applicable portion of that tax year" - the statute's proration, which few districts restate. Filing. "There is NEVER a fee to apply for any exemption", the FAQ says, and a homestead application needs a copy of a driver licence or state ID "whose address must match the address of the property". Online, the district's "Online Homestead Filing Information" lists the exemptions its portal takes - general residence homestead, disabled person, age 65 or older or surviving spouse, and "100 Percent Disabled Veteran (or Survivor)", the last needing VA documentation along with the matching licence - filed by locating the property in the property search, then the HS Exemption link on the property detail screen, which produces a partially completed form 50-114; the district runs on the Prodigy platform at lubbock.prodigycad.com. Its Forms page holds an Exemption Application Forms section (41 forms at the last capture) and links the Comptroller's forms; a disabled veteran's or survivor's application is the Comptroller's 50-135.
