Mansfield Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Mansfield’s pages print no clause amounts and its site answers a Cloudflare challenge, so this entry gives the statute’s, read through the Internet Archive’s captures.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Mansfield.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Mansfield grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. www.mansfieldma.com answers a Cloudflare challenge that does not clear to curl or to the automated browser (issue #223), so the Board of Assessors, Town Assessor and Veterans’ Services pages were read through the Internet Archive’s captures of October 6, 2025, June 29, 2025 and February 25, 2024, the newest each path holds. The board’s page names Gregory Matoian the chair with a term expiring December 31, 2026, Dana St. James the clerk (December 31, 2025) and Andrew Bank (December 31, 2027) at Town Hall, 6 Park Row, Second Floor (508-261-7350), and says the board “reviews requests for abatement and statutory exemptions”, with no amount of the town’s own on it, so the figures here are the statute’s. The Town Assessor’s page names Ann MacCarthy the Chief Assessor and Donna Linfield her administrative secretary, and counts “Process Exemptions for Real Estate (Elderly, Veteran, Blind, Surviving Spouse, Financial Condition)” among the office’s services, its statutory clause exemptions deadline April 1. The Veterans’ Services page describes the office as administering the veterans’ program per Chapter 115 of Massachusetts General Law and says its Veterans Agent acts as the town’s Burial Agent and as Graves Officer for the veterans’ graves, with the office on the third floor of Town Hall (508-851-6411); the page names no agent, where the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 row names Michael Raymond at Town Hall, 6 Park Row, with the same phone. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Mansfield Veterans’ Services: Michael Raymond, Veterans’ Agent (EOVS directory). Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
