Mahoning County Auditor: Disabled Veteran Homestead Exemption

The Mahoning County Auditor takes the State's disabled veteran homestead application, DTE 105I, and its flyer names the individual unemployability route, but its $50,000 figure is the older one and its own site answers a Cloudflare challenge to curl and headless Chrome; the commissioners adopted no 319.304 local option.

Also called: homestead, property tax, DTE 105I, county auditor, Ralph Meacham, unemployability, 323.152, 100%.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under Revised Code 323.152(A)(2); see the Ohio entry. File DTE 105I, with the VA award letter, with the Mahoning County Auditor, Ralph T. Meacham, CPA, first floor of the courthouse at 120 Market Street, Youngstown (330-740-2010, fax 330-480-7571), by December 31 of the year the exemption is wanted. There is no income test for the disabled veteran exemption. The flyer. The Auditor's Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veterans flyer, on the county's DocumentCenter, asks for a VA letter verifying a 100 percent service-related disability or documentation of individual unemployability, and names the individual unemployability route regardless of age or income. But it says the exemption shields $50,000 of market value, which was the tax year 2025 figure; the reduction is indexed to inflation, and for tax year 2026 real property, the year now being filed, the Department of Taxation's figure is $59,400. It also asks for "DD 2214 discharge papers", a slip for the DD-214. A veteran with a total rating, or paid at the 100 percent rate for unemployability, qualifies and should file DTE 105I with the award letter; a denial can be appealed to the Board of Revision. The Auditor's own site could not be read. auditor.mahoningcountyoh.gov answers a Cloudflare "Just a moment" challenge to both curl and headless Chrome, so the homestead programme is known from the flyer and the form on the county's DocumentCenter. The local option. House Bill 96 let each board of county commissioners add a county homestead credit equal to the State one, without State reimbursement (Revised Code 319.304). Nothing in the commissioners' 58 agendas from October 2025 to October 2026 adopts it, so Mahoning County's homestead credits are the State's alone.
