Marion County (Arkansas) Collector: Disabled Veteran Property Tax Exemption

The Marion County Collector, Carla Purdome, in the courthouse at 300 E. Old Main Street, Yellville (870-449-6253), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption on the home and personal property; her page says nothing about it, and since Act 876 of 2025 the VA letter is a one-time filing.

Also called: property tax, collector, DAV exemption, 26-3-306, homestead, personal property, Act 876, VA letter, tax waiver letter, Carla Purdome, 870-449-6253, Yellville, Bull Shoals, Flippin, Pyatt, Summit.

For: Veteran or service member, child, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under section 26-3-306, as the Arkansas entry on the disabled veteran property tax exemption explains: no tax on the home, its land and personal property for a veteran VA rates 100% permanent and total or pays special monthly compensation for the loss or loss of use of a limb or blindness, carried on by an unremarried surviving spouse and minor children. Act 876 of 2025 added to section 26-3-306(b) that the VA letter "is required to be submitted only one (1) time" and that "annual submission of a letter from the department is not required", from the 2025 assessment year, so long as you tell the collector if you stop qualifying or move. File again for a new home. The county's pages. The Collector's page explains payment, the October 15 due date, the 10% penalty and the homestead credit deadline, but says nothing about the disabled veteran exemption. The Veterans Services page lists the "Tax Waiver Letter" among the things the office helps with, so start there (870-449-5401) for the VA letter, then take it to the Collector. The office.
