Loading the county list.

Choose a level. State is what this state provides everywhere. A county or city page adds its own level. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Education & EmploymentOhio · State

A veteran who passes an Ohio classified civil service exam gets 20% of the grade added, and a Guard or reserve member who has finished initial training gets 15%. The same credit applies to county and city classified jobs.

Ohio County Recorders: Free Discharge Recording and the Ohio Veterans ID Card

MiscellaneousOhio · State

A discharged service member. Recording is for any discharged member of the armed forces. The ID card needs a recorded discharge that is not dishonorable. No rating is needed.

Ohio County Veterans Service Commissions

MiscellaneousOhio · State

Every Ohio county must have a veterans service commission, funded by a county levy of up to half a mill, that gives temporary financial help to a veteran discharged under honorable conditions, a service member or their family after three months in the county, files VA claims free, arranges rides to VA medical centers and buries an indigent veteran.

Discharge under honorable conditions and three months in the county. Financial assistance needs a veteran discharged under honorable conditions with active duty other than training, an active-duty member, or their spouse, surviving spouse, dependent parent, minor child or ward, resident in the county at least three months. No rating is needed.
