Confirm with the assessor

Every figure on this page carries the day it was read and the source it was read from. State law sets a statutory figure for each exemption, and the city council may adopt, raise, adjust or turn it into a tax credit by ordinance, so the amount on a bill can differ from both. Confirm it with the assessor before you rely on it. A figure marked for checking has had a bill on its statute move since it was read.

Choose a level. City is what this city grants itself, under state law. State is what Massachusetts provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Cambridge prints the statutory clause 22 amounts: $400 for a veteran rated 10 percent or more, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C, $1,000 for a 100 percent rating under 22E, and full exemption under 22D.

  • Clauses 22A, 22B and 22C, as Cambridge publishes them: $750, $1,250 and $1,500 off the tax bill (read )
  • Clause 22E, 100% rating, as Cambridge publishes it: $1,000 off the tax bill (read )

A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relative. Clause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.
