Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Cambridge’s Veterans’ Services page sets out the clause 22 exemptions at the statutory amounts: $400 under clause 22 for a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent, and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; $750 under 22A for the loss or loss of use of a hand, foot or eye, or the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross or Air Force Cross; $1,250 under 22B for the loss of both hands, both feet, a hand and a foot, or both eyes; $1,500 under 22C for a permanent and total rating with specially adapted housing; and $1,000 under 22E for a 100 percent rating. Clause 22D is a full exemption for the unmarried surviving spouse of a member who died of an injury or disease from a combat zone or is missing in action presumed dead, and the page cites G.L. c. 58, s. 8A for the full exemption of a paraplegic veteran and the surviving spouse. The page says a surviving spouse under clauses 22 and 22D loses the exemption on remarriage, and requires Massachusetts domicile on July 1 with six months’ residence before entering service or five consecutive years before filing. The statute, as read on October 14, 2026, asks for two consecutive years, so a veteran with between two and five years here should apply anyway.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
