Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Santa Fe County Assessor: Veteran and Disabled Veteran Exemptions

HousingSanta Fe County, NM · County

The Santa Fe County Assessor applies the State's $10,000 veteran exemption and the disabled veteran exemption on the Department of Veterans' Services certificate, presented in person within 30 days of the notice of value mailed around April 1. Its flier still describes the disabled veteran exemption as all or nothing at 100%, though since 2026 it follows the rating; the Assessor counted 1,181 such accounts in 2026.

Disabled veteran exemption, in proportion to the rating. From tax year 2026 the share of the home's taxable value exempt equals the service-connected rating, on the Department of Veterans' Services certificate.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

VetTOC has not written a veterans service office for Santa Fe County yet. The state’s service offices below serve it.
