Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Nebraska provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Pierce County (Nebraska) Veterans Service Office

MiscellaneousPierce County, NE · County

Pierce County’s Veterans Service Office in Room 6 of the Pierce courthouse, under Veterans Service Officer Brett Rix, files county, State and federal claims, places a flag holder on the grave of every veteran buried in the county, helps with homestead filings and records DD-214s; the county replaced the concrete around its courthouse Veterans Monument in 2026.

Any Pierce County veteran or dependent. Claims help, homestead help and grave flag holders need no rating; the rating filter never hides this entry.

Pierce County (Nebraska) Veterans’ Aid Fund

MiscellaneousPierce County, NE · County

Pierce County’s section 80-102 Veterans’ Aid Fund holds $9,492.12 with no levy, all of it budgeted as emergency relief, and paid nothing in 2024-2025 after $1,206.37 in 2023-2024; its page still asks for wartime service, a test the 2024 amendment removed.

Veteran, spouse, surviving spouse or minor child in need. Section 80-102 as amended in 2024: honorable or general service, a year in Nebraska and six months in Pierce County, and need the committee assesses; the county page’s wartime test no longer applies. No rating is required.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

Every county runs its own veterans relief fund off a dedicated levy, decided locally by the county veterans service committee. A refusal from the state fund is not a refusal from this one.
