Cedar County

Street address

Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Nebraska provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Cedar County Veterans Relief

MiscellaneousCedar County, NE · County

Cedar County budgets $25,000 a year of section 80-102 veterans relief in its general fund and paid none of it in 2023-2024 or 2024-2025; the county’s page still prints the wartime-era and honorable-only test that LB1300 removed.

Veteran, spouse, surviving spouse or minor child in need. Section 80-102 as amended in 2024: honorable or general service, a year in Nebraska and six months in Cedar County, and need the committee assesses; the county page’s wartime test no longer applies. No rating is required.

Cedar County Veterans Service Office

MiscellaneousCedar County, NE · County

Cedar County’s Veterans Service Office in the Hartington courthouse, under Veterans Service Officer Scott Stanton, helps veterans and dependents with VA benefits and medical centre eligibility, records DD-214s, places bronze grave flag holders, registers graves and orders Presidential Memorial Certificates; the county’s transit vans give receipts veterans can turn in to VA.

Any Cedar County veteran, dependent or survivor. Claims help, DD-214 recording, flag holders and grave registration need no rating; the rating filter never hides this entry.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

Every county runs its own veterans relief fund off a dedicated levy, decided locally by the county veterans service committee. A refusal from the state fund is not a refusal from this one.
