Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Municipality of Skagway: Ambulance Fees Waived for Disabled Veterans

Health careSkagway Municipality, AK · City

Skagway waives every ambulance subscription-related fee for disabled veterans who live in Skagway - the annual subscription, the base rate, transportation fees and medevac escort fees - if they register each year with proof of residency (Resolution 25-05R, effective January 1, 2025).

Disabled veterans resident in Skagway, registered each year. The resolution says disabled veterans without setting a rating; the rating filter does not test it, so it never hides this benefit.

HousingSkagway Municipality, AK · City

Skagway exempts the State’s first $150,000 plus another $200,000 of assessed value - $350,000 in all - on the home of a disabled veteran. Every eligible owner must return a form each year by January 15; a newly eligible veteran must ask City Hall to be enrolled.

50 percent or more service-connected. SMC 4.10.030 covers a disabled veteran as AS 29.45.030 defines one: a disability rated 50 percent or more.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

VetTOC has not written a veterans service office for Skagway Municipality yet. The state’s service offices below serve it.
