Confirm with the assessor

Every figure on this page carries the day it was read and the source it was read from. State law sets a statutory figure for each exemption, and the town council may adopt, raise, adjust or turn it into a tax credit by ordinance, so the amount on a bill can differ from both. Confirm it with the assessor before you rely on it. A figure marked for checking has had a bill on its statute move since it was read.

Choose a level. Town is what this town grants itself, under state law. State is what Connecticut provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Trumbull’s Code § 18-30 gives a $20,000 additional exemption to a wartime veteran and $3,000 to a veteran with a disability rating, under the state income limit, and § 18-31, adopted October 6, 2025, gives the dwelling exemption to a TDIU-rated veteran, capped at two acres and the town’s median residential assessment.

  • Local additional exemption, as Trumbull Code § 18-30 sets it: $20,000 for a 12-81(19) veteran, $3,000 for a 12-81(20) veteran, $20,000 for a surviving spouse under 12-81(22), for income under the state limit (read )

  • Regular veteran’s exemption, as Trumbull’s page prints it: $3,000 off assessment, on real estate or a motor vehicle, for a DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk by September 30 (read )

Wartime service or a VA rating, set by state law. The exemptions rest on C.G.S. 12-81(19) to (26): 90 days of wartime service with a qualifying discharge filed with the town clerk, or a VA disability rating. Amounts above the base turn on rating and income. The rating filter does not hide this entry.
