Street address

Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Confirm with the assessor

Every figure on this page carries the day it was read and the source it was read from. State law sets a statutory figure for each exemption, and the town council may adopt, raise, adjust or turn it into a tax credit by ordinance, so the amount on a bill can differ from both. Confirm it with the assessor before you rely on it. A figure marked for checking has had a bill on its statute move since it was read.

Choose a level. Town is what this town grants itself, under state law. State is what Connecticut provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Scotland Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

HousingTown of Scotland, CT · Town

Scotland’s assessor page prints a minimum 4,500 assessment reduction for a DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk before October 1 and an income-qualified Additional Veteran’s program, and OLR’s survey recorded no municipal option.

  • Wartime assessment reduction, as Scotland prints it: A minimum 4,500 assessment reduction for a DD-214 on file with the Town Clerk before October 1; a disabled veteran provides a VA benefits letter for a higher reduction (read )
  • Additional income-based exemption, as Scotland prints it: Income qualifying, applied for February 1 through October 1 and renewed every two years; calendar-year 2021 limits of $38,100 single and $46,400 married, and $18,000 single and $21,000 married for a veteran rated 100 percent disabled by the VA (read )
  • Active-duty motor vehicle exemption, as Scotland administers it: One motor vehicle exempted for a Connecticut resident on active duty, on the Active Duty Form filed annually (read )

Wartime service or a VA rating, set by state law. The exemptions rest on C.G.S. 12-81(19) to (26): 90 days of wartime service with a qualifying discharge filed with the town clerk, or a VA disability rating. Amounts above the base turn on rating and income. The rating filter does not hide this entry.
