Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what South Dakota provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Pennington County Veterans Service Office

MiscellaneousPennington County, SD · County

Four veterans service officers staff Pennington County’s Rapid City office, open 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, assisting veterans, dependents and survivors with VA and South Dakota claims including burial allowance reimbursement.

Any veteran, dependent or survivor. The office assists eligible veterans, their dependents and survivors with VA and state claims. No rating is required, so the rating filter never hides this benefit.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.
