Show FiltersHide Filters

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Eddy County Assessor: the Veteran Exemption and its 2025 Increase

HousingEddy County, NM · County

The Eddy County Assessor (Rhonda Hatch) takes the veteran property tax exemption - its own flyer records HB 47's increase from $4,000 to $10,000 for tax year 2025, applied on the tax bill though the notice of value still shows $4,000, and the percentage-of-disability route appearing for tax year 2026 - with the rendering period January 1 to the last day of February, and its deadline reminder read into the Commission's February 24, 2026 minutes.

Veteran or surviving spouse owning the residence. The exemption follows the State statutes and the DVS certificate; the filter reads the rating for the proportional route.

MiscellaneousEddy County, NM · County

The Eddy County Clerk (Cara Cooke, Eddy County Administration Complex, 325 S. Main Street, Carlsbad, 575-885-3383; Artesia Sub Office, 602 S. 1st Street, 575-746-2541) records a veteran's DD-214 at no charge - the office's own fee schedule prices recordings from $25 per block of ten index entries and names no discharge line, which records free under 14-8-17.

Any veteran with a discharge. Recording a discharge is free under State law and no rating is needed. The rating filter never hides this entry.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

VetTOC has not written a veterans service office for Eddy County yet. The state’s service offices below serve it.
