Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what Montana provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Lewis and Clark County Operation Green Light for Veterans

MiscellaneousLewis and Clark County, MT · County

Each Veterans Day the Board of County Commissioners lights county buildings green as part of Operation Green Light, the National Association of Counties initiative, and invites residents, businesses and organizations to replace one light bulb with a green one in honor of the more than 6,000 veterans who call the county home.

A countywide observance, not a gated benefit. Operation Green Light is a recognition and awareness initiative open to all; recorded so the rating filter never hides it.

Lewis and Clark County Veteran Services and the MVAD Helena Office

MiscellaneousLewis and Clark County, MT · County

Lewis and Clark County employs no veterans service office; state claims help runs through the Montana Veteran Services Program office in Helena, (406) 324-4774, [email protected], and the county site names no county veteran programme beyond its Operation Green Light observance.

State claims help is free to any veteran. The Montana Veteran Services Program assists veterans, spouses and dependents with federal claims at no charge, so the rating filter never hides this benefit.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.
