Start typing a street address. VetTOC reads only the county or town from it and opens its page.

Choose a level. County is what this county sets or runs itself. State is what New York provides everywhere, including here. Federal is always last.

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Clinton County: Veterans Real Property Tax Exemptions

HousingClinton County, NY · County

Clinton County grants the alternative veterans exemption at the highest limits the law allowed in 2001 - $27,000 wartime, $18,000 combat and $90,000 disability (Local Law 2 of 2001) - and the Cold War exemption at 10 percent up to $8,000 plus half the disability rating up to $40,000, with no term limit (Local Laws 1 of 2008 and 2 of 2017). Each town, village and school district sets its own; the county's Real Property office publishes the table. File by March 1.

Half the disability rating reduces assessed value further. The alternative and Cold War exemptions add a reduction of half the service-connected rating, up to the county and local limits.

Free help with a VA claim

A county veterans service officer, a town veterans’ agent or a state service office helps you file VA claims for free, most of them through staff VA has accredited. VA does not let anyone charge you for help filing an initial claim.

New York County and City Veterans' Service Agencies

Every New York county outside New York City must run a county veterans' service agency, led by a director who must be a veteran and VA-accredited, to help veterans and families with federal, State and local benefits at no cost. A city may run its own, and New York City does.
