Hawaii County exempts the home of a veteran 100 percent disabled or 100 percent unemployable from on-duty injuries from its real property tax, except half the minimum tax, under County Code 19-73; the unremarried widow or widower keeps it. VA proof stands in for the physician's certificate.
100 percent disabled or 100 percent unemployable. Section 19-73 asks for a veteran 100 percent disabled or 100 percent unemployable from injuries received on duty, and lasts only while that status holds. A 100% schedular rating or TDIU meets it on VA proof.
A totally disabled veteran pays no real property tax on the home except the county minimum tax, which is typically a few hundred dollars. The four counties administer it separately, so the details differ by island.
Totally disabled from injuries sustained on active duty. The statute tests total disability from injuries sustained while on active duty rather than naming a combined rating percentage. In practice that corresponds to a total disability determination, and counties ask for a physician certificate alongside the VA documentation.
The Hawkins County Trustee, Jim Shanks, 110 East Main Street, Room 203, Rogersville (423-272-7022), takes applications for the State's property tax relief for disabled veterans by April 4 after the February 28 tax deadline; its page says income counts for the programme, which is true of the elderly and disabled relief but not of the disabled veteran relief.
Permanent and total, as VA determines it. The State relief the Hawkins County Trustee takes applications for. The rating route in 67-5-704(b)(3) asks for service-connected permanent and total disability as determined by VA, which a veteran paid at the total rate through unemployability that VA has found permanent also holds. It is recorded rather than enforced because the paraplegia, blindness and loss-of-limbs route and the prisoner of war route need no rating at all.
The Hays Central Appraisal District describes each disabled veteran exemption with its deadline and documents on one page: the 100% homestead under 11.131 with its proration and five-year late window, the 11.22 partial exemption whose licence need not match the property, and the donated-residence and line-of-duty exemptions. Its surviving-spouse paragraphs leave out the right to move the exemption and carry a copy-paste error from the disabled-person section.
10% for the partial exemption; 100% or unemployable for the homestead. The partial exemption starts at a 10% rating. The total homestead exemption needs 100% compensation with a 100% or unemployability rating. The surviving spouse exemptions need no rating.
Haywood County's Tax Assessor, 215 North Main Street, Suite 220, Waynesville (828-356-2752), takes the State's disabled veteran exclusion - up to the first $45,000 of the home's appraised value, no age or income limit - on the 2026 AV-9 application with the NCDVA-9 certification, ownership and Haywood residency as of January 1, and a copy of any trust that holds the home, due by June 1, 2026.
Service-connected, permanent and total disability. The NCDVA-9 certifies a total and permanent service-connected disability or 38 U.S.C. 2101 benefits; the county checklist calls it "100% service-connected disabled." No income or age test applies.
Hempstead County's tax collector, Sheriff James Singleton ex officio, at 200 E. 3rd, Hope ((870) 777-4103), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption on the home and personal property; the Collector's page sends exemption questions to the Assessor's number, and since Act 876 of 2025 the VA letter is a one-time filing.
100% permanent and total, special monthly compensation, or qualifying survivor. The county collector administers the State exemption under Ark. Code Ann. Section 26-3-306. The disability test is the State test, not a county one.
How the Henderson County Appraisal District takes the disabled veteran exemptions: a partial exemption of $5,000 to $12,000 set by the service-connected rating, the 100 percent residence-homestead exemption for a veteran rated 100 percent or individual unemployability, applications January 1 to April 30 with no late-filing penalty on the disabled veteran's exemption, and a tax-deferral affidavit route for qualified disabled veterans.
10% for the partial exemption; 100% or unemployable for the homestead. The partial exemption starts at a 10% rating. The total homestead exemption needs 100% compensation with a 100% or unemployability rating.
Henderson County's Assessor takes applications by June 1 for the State's exclusion of the first $45,000 of a permanent residence's assessed value for a veteran with a total and permanent service-connected disability or adapted housing benefits, or a qualifying surviving spouse, on forms AV-9 and NCDVA-9; once granted it continues without reapplying. (828) 698-3005.
Permanent and total service-connected disability. The rating path is a total and permanent service-connected disability on January 1. A section 2101 adapted housing grant, or a surviving spouse route, qualifies instead; the filter cannot test those.
Hennepin County's assessor takes the State's homestead market value exclusion, $150,000 at a 70 percent rating and $300,000 at total and permanent, by December 31, online or on form CR-HEV. The county's form asks for a permanent 70 percent rating, which the statute does not, and its page lists unemployability at any percentage for the higher tier, which the statute does not either.
Service-connected disability of 70 percent or more. Section 273.13, subdivision 34 excludes $150,000 at a rating of 70 percent or more, temporary or permanent, whatever the county form says.
Henrico exempts the home and up to 10 acres of a veteran rated 100% service-connected, permanent, and total, on a one-time notarized filing. Its page still tells a surviving spouse to stay in the same home, which the statute no longer requires.
100% permanent and total. Henrico applies the statewide exemption to the home and up to 10 acres. The county states the 100% service-connected, permanent, and total rating. It does not add an income test. One path is a VA rating of 100% that is service-connected, permanent, and total.
Henrico relieves up to $3,200 of real estate tax a year (REAP), or caps the bill (RECAP), for an owner who is permanently and totally disabled. Income is counted as taxable income, so tax-free VA compensation is not counted.
Permanent and total disability. The owner is permanently and totally disabled, or 65, as of December 31 of the prior year. VA, Social Security, the Railroad Retirement Board, or two Virginia physicians can document it. A VA rating alone is not the test.
The Henry County Assessment Office (Chief County Assessor Tracey Vinavich, CIAO, 307 West Center Street, Cambridge, 309-937-3570, weekdays 8 to 4:30) administers the veterans' exemptions - the Standard Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities (70 percent or more: all EAV of the residential portion up to $250,000; 50-69 percent: $5,000; 30-49 percent: $2,500) on its own application form, the Returning Veterans' Homestead Exemption (a two-year $5,000 reduction, claimable each deployment year) and the Veterans Organization Freeze among the non-homestead applications.
At least a 30 percent service-connected disability. The Standard Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities follows the VA-certified percentage: 30-49 percent $2,500 of EAV, 50-69 percent $5,000, 70 percent or more all EAV of the residential portion up to $250,000, on the county’s own application form.
The Henry County Auditor - Debbie Walker, Courthouse, 101 S Main Street, New Castle (765-529-2800, fax 765-521-7073) - takes Indiana's 2026 disabled veteran property tax benefits on State Form 12662 by January 15, 2027: the whole assessed value off for a totally disabled veteran and $350 or $250 credits for a partial disability; the service office completes the form's certificate, and the legacy Auditor page adds the IDVA certificate-of-eligibility rule.
A disability of 10 percent or more. The State tests apply: total disability for the full deduction, 10% or more with wartime service for the $350 credit, 10% or more at 62 for the $250 credit.
Henry County’s Commissioner of the Revenue takes the statewide home exemption for a veteran rated 100% service-connected, permanent, and total, on the dwelling and one acre. Its application asks for an original VA letter, a photo ID and a voter registration card, and writes the surviving spouse rule more narrowly than the statute.
100% permanent and total. Henry County applies the statewide exemption to the dwelling and one acre. It does not add an income test. One path is a VA rating of 100% that is service-connected, permanent, and total.
Henry County relieves 80%, 50% or 20% of real estate tax, to a $500 cap, for an owner who is 65 or older or permanently and totally disabled, with household income up to $40,000 and net worth up to $50,000 excluding the home and one acre. The code on Municode still prints the old $24,000 table; the Board raised the limit on May 26, 2026.
Age 65 or permanent and total disability. The owner is 65 or older, or permanently and totally disabled. The code accepts SSA, VA or Railroad Retirement Board certification, or two doctors. A VA rating alone is not the test.
Henry County gives the State's disabled veteran homestead exemption in four age bands: from 65 it adds a full exemption from State tax, and from 70 a full exemption from school taxes. Its chart still shows the 2025 amount, $121,812, against $126,526 for 2026, and its 2027 application asks for a permanent and total rating, an honorable discharge and filing by April 1, where Senate Bill 566 allows filing until the appeal deadline.
100% service-connected. One path is a 100% rating; the form asks for permanent and total, the statute does not. Statutory awards for loss of limbs or sight, and adapted housing eligibility, are other paths the filter does not test.
The Hernando County Property Appraiser takes exemption applications for the 2027 tax year until March 1, 2027, listing the $5,000 exemption on VA Letter #27-125, the combat-related discount for veterans 65 and older on DR-501DV, and the total and permanent exemption on VA Letter #27-333.
10% for the $5,000 exemption; total and permanent for the full one. The $5,000 exemption starts at a 10% service-connected rating, on VA letter 27-125. The full exemption needs a service-connected total and permanent disability, on VA letter 27-333. The 65-plus discount needs a combat-related disability.
The Hidalgo County Appraisal District publishes no guidance of its own on the State's disabled veteran exemptions and sends readers to the Comptroller. Its quick online filing takes only the general homestead and over-65 exemptions, so a disabled veteran files form 50-114 or 50-135 through the District's portal, by mail or at its Edinburg office.
10% for the partial exemption; 100% or unemployable for the homestead. The partial exemption starts at 10%. The total homestead exemption needs 100% compensation with a 100% or unemployability rating. The surviving spouse exemptions need no rating.
Hidalgo County's Veterans Services office runs a Texas Veterans Commission Housing for Texas Heroes grant, $400,000 for September 2026 to August 2027, that pays contractors for home repairs and accessibility work for veterans. The County publishes no eligibility rules; ask the office.
Hidalgo County veterans needing home repairs. Eligibility is set by the Texas Veterans Commission grant and the office; none is published. No rating is needed.
The Highlands County Property Appraiser takes the combat-related discount on a VA benefit statement and DD-214, and the total exemption for service-connected total and permanent disability on a VA or U.S. Government certificate, with remote filing locations in the filing period; filing is due March 1.
10% for the $5,000 exemption; total and permanent for the full exemption. The $5,000 exemption starts at a 10% service-connected disability. The full exemption needs a service-connected total and permanent rating. The 65-plus discount equals the combat-related percentage.
How the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser describes the veterans' exemptions, and where it is narrower than the statutes: it tells a surviving spouse the total and permanent exemption passes only after five years of marriage, which section 196.081 does not require, and offers the $5,000 disability exemption only below 100%, where section 196.24 reaches any rating of 10% or more.
10% for the $5,000 exemption; permanent and total for the full one. The $5,000 exemption starts at a 10% rating. The full homestead exemption needs a VA letter of service-connected total and permanent disability. The combat discount needs age 65 and a combat-related permanent rating.
The Hinds County Tax Assessor takes homestead applications in the first three months of the year, but its own published rule lets over-65 and 100-percent-disabled applicants amend any time during the year, wider than the statute allows, and its 100% DAV handout explains the complete disabled veteran exemption.
Service-connected total disability for the full exemption. The county administers the State exemption: a complete exemption for a service-connected total disability under Sections 27-33-67 and 27-33-75(2)(b). Nothing in the statute says whether a total rating based on individual unemployability satisfies it; see the State entry for the ambiguity.
Hingham’s veterans exemptions table prints $823 under clause 22, $1,543 under 22A, $2,572 under 22B, $3,087 under 22C, full exemption under 22D and $2,057 under 22E, the statutes doubled and raised by the fiscal 2026 adjustment of 2.9 per cent.
A VA rating, a decoration, or a surviving relative. Clause 22 reaches a veteran rated 10 percent or more, a Purple Heart recipient, a Gold Star parent and the spouse or unmarried surviving spouse; 22A to 22E turn on named losses, decorations, a 100 percent rating or specially adapted housing. The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.
Hoke County's Tax Relief Programs page takes applications for the State's disabled veteran exclusion, the first $45,000 of appraised value for an honourably discharged disabled veteran or an unremarried surviving spouse, with no age or income limits, on the State's AV-9 form filed with the county tax assessor by June 1 (910-875-8751); the same page carries the elderly or disabled exclusion and the circuit breaker deferment.
Permanent and total service-connected disability. The exclusion needs the NCDVA-9 certification the State entry describes; the county takes the application.
Hoke County's Tax Collections office applies the Military Spouses Residency Relief Act to spouses of military personnel: send the service member's LES with proof of matching domicile to the Tax Collector (email or fax 910-875-9222) and the vehicle property tax exemption is processed within 24 hours; a non-North-Carolina state-of-residence box on the LES may exempt the vehicle.
Military spouses and active-duty members. Needs the LES (and, for a spouse, proof of matching domicile). No rating is needed.
Holbrook’s "Exemptions Adopted by the Town of Holbrook for Fiscal Year 2027" sheet - the town’s own record of its adoptions - prints the statutes raised by the fiscal 2027 adjustment of 2.7 per cent and increased a quarter, $513.50 under each clause 22 subcategory to $1,925.63 under 22C and $1,283.75 under 22E, what clause 22J at 25 per cent produces.
Holden’s assessors print the statute’s amounts, so this entry gives the statute’s: $400 for a veteran rated 10 percent or more, $750 to $1,500 under 22A to 22C, $1,000 for a 100 percent rating, and full exemption under 22D and 22F.

Holyoke lists disabled veterans among its exemption categories without an amount, so this entry gives the statute’s: $400 for a veteran rated 10 percent or more, and full exemption for a paraplegic veteran.
Hopewell’s Commissioner of the Revenue takes the statewide home exemption under code section 34-191, updated in 2025 to apply "without restriction on the spouse’s moving to a different principal place of residence", at a 2026 real estate rate of $1.17 adopted unchanged.
100% permanent and total. Hopewell applies the statewide exemption to the dwelling and up to one acre. It does not add an income test; the code adds no narrower rule. One path is a VA rating of 100% that is service-connected, permanent, and total.
Hopewell relieves the real estate tax of an owner 65 or permanently disabled on January 1 with income to $32,500 and net worth to $100,000, excluding $4,000 of each non-spouse relative’s income and the first $10,000 of a permanently disabled individual’s income, on an affidavit filed by April 1.
Age 65 or permanently and totally disabled. The owner is 65 or older, or permanently and totally disabled, on January 1 of the tax year. A VA rating alone is not the test.
Hopkinton’s veterans’ property tax exemptions under R.I. Gen. Laws 44-3-4, with the statutory figures for Hopkinton and the day each was read. Confirm the current amount with the assessor.
Service and discharge set by state law. A veteran of a war, conflict or Cold War service period named in 44-3-4 or 44-3-4.2, honorably discharged, discharged under conditions other than dishonorable, or still serving honorably; or the unmarried widow or widower. No disability rating is needed for the basic exemption, so the rating filter never hides this entry.
Hopkinton’s assessors post the Commonwealth’s Form 96-4 with no amount of the town’s own - the 2026 Annual Town Meeting warrant carrying no veteran item - so this entry gives the statute’s; its Veterans Services are the MetroWest District’s, Kathy Lang directing, with the town’s alternating Fridays at the Senior Center the page records.
A home that has South Carolina's disabled veteran property tax exemption is also exempt from Horry County's stormwater fee, under Section 30 of the county's FY 2027 budget ordinance (Ordinance 28-2026, adopted May 19, 2026); the county pays the utility from its general fund instead.
Holds the State disabled veteran home exemption. Follows the 12-37-220(B)(1) exemption, whose test is permanent and total disability as the statute defines it (inability to perform substantial gainful employment), certified by the county veterans affairs officer. Recorded rather than enforced because unemployability and surviving spouse routes reach it too.
The Hot Spring County Collector, Sheri Oden, 210 Locust Street, Malvern ((501) 332-5857), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption on the home and personal property; the county publishes no exemption text, and since Act 876 of 2025 the VA letter is a one-time filing.
100% permanent and total, special monthly compensation, or qualifying survivor. The county collector administers the State exemption under Ark. Code Ann. Section 26-3-306. The disability test is the State test, not a county one.
How Houston County runs the State's disabled veteran homestead exemption, $126,526 for 2026. The Board of Tax Assessors takes applications only in person, from January 1 to April 1, and asks for a 100% permanent and total rating or unemployability; the Tax Commissioner's page still gives the amount as "up to $50,000". Senate Bill 566 moved the deadline to the appeal date on the assessment notice.
100% service-connected. One path is a 100% rating; the Board asks for permanent and total, the statute does not. Statutory awards for loss of limbs or sight, and adapted housing eligibility, are other paths the filter does not test.
Houston County takes the State disability and age-65 special homestead claims at its Assessing Department and requires the special-exemption application to be renewed in the October-through-December window every year, or the holder drops to the lesser exemption.
Permanently and totally disabled, or 65 with income within the limits. Houston County administers the State special homestead exemptions; the disability test is the State test.
Every veteran property tax benefit above the $50 statewide floor is adopted town by town under RSA 72:27-a, and the town picks the amount. A later increase in a statutory ceiling does not reach a town that already adopted the credit until that town votes again.
The town or city must have voted to adopt the provision. RSA 72:27-a, I and II. Adoption is by town meeting warrant article, by petition under RSA 39:3, or by a city or chartered town’s legislative body or official ballot. The vote specifies the amount.
Every assessment notice in the state has to name the veteran exemptions by March 1. The application deadlines are eight months later, on November 1, and three separate four-year look-backs exist for people who missed them.
The notice duty is on the assessor, by March 1. Section 10-6-154 requires every annual assessment notice to state that the disabled veteran, surviving spouse, and paraplegic veteran exemptions may be available, with the section numbers.
Howard County's tax collector, Sheriff Bryan McJunkins ex officio, at the courthouse, 421 N. Main St., Nashville (870-845-7508), takes the State's disabled veteran exemption on the home and personal property; the county posts nothing about it, and since Act 876 of 2025 the VA letter is a one-time filing.
100% permanent and total, special monthly compensation, or qualifying survivor. The county collector administers the State exemption under Ark. Code Ann. Section 26-3-306. The disability test is the State test, not a county one.

75% to 99% service-connected. The service member or veteran needs a VA service-connected rating of 75% to 99%. At 100% permanent and total the state exemption applies instead.
A credit of 20% of the county property tax on up to $650,000 of assessed value, for up to ten years, on the home of a retired service member who is 65 or older, or the unremarried surviving spouse of 65 or older. Apply by October 1.

An owner in the Howard County Metropolitan District whom VA has rated permanently 100% service-connected is exempt from the water and sewer ad valorem charge, and so is the unremarried surviving spouse who still owns and lives there.
Permanent 100% service-connected. The code asks for a permanent 100% service-connected rating.
Hubbardston’s Statutory Exemptions page prints the veterans’ clauses as one "$400 to a full tax exemption depending upon the disability and qualifying clause" range and its fiscal 2025 COLA sheet the statutes, both asking a year’s residence before entering service, the older one-year test, so this entry gives the statute’s; its veterans’ agent is the Wachusett district through Gardner’s office, Niqui Laviolette, whose row lists the Hubbardston Public Library hours, and its district court, Gardner’s, hosts a veterans’ treatment session.
Hudson’s assessors post no clause 22 amount, so this entry gives the statute’s: $400 for a veteran rated 10 percent or more, $750 to $1,500 under 22A to 22C, $1,000 for a 100 percent rating, and full exemption under 22D and 22F.

The Humboldt County Assessor takes the State exemption on BOE-261-G for the principal residence of a qualifying veteran or unmarried surviving spouse, owned by the veteran, the spouse or both, and keeps it for a veteran confined to a care facility if the home is not rented. It replaces the homeowners' exemption; co-owning veterans each get it to their share.
100% or compensated at 100% for unemployability. The State exemption needs a 100% rating, permanent or not, compensation at 100% for unemployability, blindness in both eyes, or loss of the use of two or more limbs.
The Humboldt County Assessor (Andy Heiser, 775-623-6310) administers the State's exemptions for veterans, disabled veterans, surviving spouses, orphans and blind persons, on a six-month residency rule with documentation, and links the DMV exemption-balance lookup. No amounts are printed, so the 2026-27 figures rest on the Nevada entries.
60% permanent for the disabled veteran exemption. The disabled veteran exemption starts at a permanent service-connected disability of 60%, counting separate ratings added together. The general veteran exemption needs qualifying service and no rating.
