Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The benefits are the State's; see the Indiana entries on the 100 percent deduction for totally disabled veterans and on the $350 and $250 credits. The Auditor's page. The county directory lists Debbie Walker, Henry County Auditor, Courthouse, 101 S Main Street, New Castle, 765-529-2800, fax 765-521-7073, with no deduction text of its own. The legacy henryco_net Auditor's page carries the older Disabled Veteran Deductions section: "1. Applicant must provide a certificate of eligibility from the Indiana Department of Veteran Affairs. 2. Applicant cannot receive a tax deduction for being a disabled veteran in conjunction with a disability exemption or an over 65 exemption. Note that a Disabled Veteran Deduction may replace either a Disabled Exemption or an Over 65 exemption." - with the pre-2026 tier amounts printed beside them. The certificate rule and the no-combination rule are the State's own (see the Indiana entries); the printed amounts are the old ones the 2026 statute replaced. The filing. File State Form 12662 with the County Auditor by January 15, 2027 for taxes due in 2027; a totally disabled veteran who had the old $14,000 deduction must file again to get the new 100% deduction, or the county applies only the $250 credit. The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs says State Form 51186 "is no longer used", and the service officer can complete the form's Section VIII certificate. See the Indiana entries on the 100 percent deduction and the $350 and $250 credits. Ask the Veteran Service Office (765-529-4305) to complete Section VIII.
