Humboldt County Assessor: Veterans' and Disabled Veterans' Exemptions

The Humboldt County Assessor (Andy Heiser, 775-623-6310) administers the State's exemptions for veterans, disabled veterans, surviving spouses, orphans and blind persons, on a six-month residency rule with documentation, and links the DMV exemption-balance lookup. No amounts are printed, so the 2026-27 figures rest on the Nevada entries.

Also called: property tax, assessor, NRS 361.090, NRS 361.091, Winnemucca, Andy Heiser, six month residency, DMV exemption balance, surviving spouse.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemptions are the State's, under NRS 361.090 for a veteran who served in a listed period or campaign and NRS 361.091 for a permanent service-connected disability of 60% or more; the Nevada entries explain them, including the rule that separate ratings are added together. The Humboldt County Assessor administers them at 50 W. 5th Street, Winnemucca, under Assessor Andy Heiser, (775) 623-6310, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The county's Exemptions page (read 2026-10-26) lists the exemptions the office handles - "Blind persons, Disabled veterans, Orphans, Surviving spouses, Veterans" - and states the two local rules a claimant actually needs. Residency: "All exemptions require a six month residency along with appropriate documentation." Timing: "Filing for exemptions must be done within specific time periods" - the June 15 real-property deadline the State entries carry is the operative one, and the page does not restate it, so ask the office when filing. It also links the DMV exemption-balance lookup ("Click here to view your DMV exemption balance or scan the QR code on the back of your card"), the split between property and vehicle uses being the veteran's own choice. The page prints no dollar amounts, so the 2026-27 figures ($3,640 of assessed value for a veteran; $18,200, $27,300 or $36,400 at 60%, 80% or 100%) rest on the Nevada entries.
