Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's, under section 26-3-306, as the Arkansas entry on the disabled veteran property tax exemption explains: no tax on the home, its land and personal property for a veteran VA rates 100% permanent and total or pays special monthly compensation for the loss or loss of use of a limb or blindness, carried on by an unremarried surviving spouse and minor children. Act 876 of 2025 added to section 26-3-306(b) that the VA letter "is required to be submitted only one (1) time" and that "annual submission of a letter from the department is not required", from the 2025 assessment year, so long as you tell the collector if you stop qualifying or move. File again for a new home. The county's page. The Collector's Office page (last edited 2021): "Disabled American Veterans rated 100% totally and permanently service-connected disabled are entitled to a tax exemption. Call (870)777-6190 for more information." That number is the Assessor's (Kim Smith, per the State portal); the State test also covers special monthly compensation for the loss or loss of use of a limb or blindness, and the surviving spouse and minor children, which the page leaves out. Bring the VA letter to the Collector, or have the veterans service officer ((870) 359-0181) help with it. The office. The page signs off "James Singleton, County Collector, 200 E 3rd, Hope, AR 71801", (870) 777-4103, fax (870) 777-7827; SWARK Today's January 2025 report calls him Sheriff James Singleton, and the State portal lists the Collector at the courthouse, 400 South Washington, P.O. Box 549, Hope, AR 71802. Taxes are due by October 15.
