Hopkinton’s assessors post the Commonwealth’s Form 96-4 with no amount of the town’s own - the 2026 Annual Town Meeting warrant carrying no veteran item - so this entry gives the statute’s; its Veterans Services are the MetroWest District’s, Kathy Lang directing, with the town’s alternating Fridays at the Senior Center the page records.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Hopkinton.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Hopkinton grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessor’s page names John H. Neas, MAA, RMA, CMA, the Principal Assessor (508-497-9720, [email protected]) and Mitchell Wolpert the Deputy Assessor, at 18 Main Street, printing the fiscal 2026 tax rates of $14.10 residential and $14.08 commercial, industrial and personal property. The department’s exemption links are the Commonwealth’s: a "Veteran Exemption" application that is State Tax Form 96-4, revised 12/2022, its fiscal-year line filled 2027, beside the Department of Revenue’s 2019 "Taxpayer’s Guide for a Veteran Exemption" and the same shape for the senior, blind and surviving-spouse guides. No amount of the town’s own and no acceptance of clause 22I or 22J appears on the site, and the 2026 Annual Town Meeting Warrant & Motions document carries no veteran item, so the figures here are the statute’s. The Veterans Services page names Kathy Lang the Director and Veterans Agent (508-429-0629, [email protected]) and Richard Sabounjian a part-time Veteran’s Agent, the central office at 1750 Washington Street, Holliston, and the Hopkinton hours "Alternating Fridays, check senior center calendar for dates" at the Hopkinton Senior Center, 28 Mayhew Street - the office the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 Hopkinton row lists (Kathleen Lang, 1750 Washington Street, Holliston, 508-429-0629, [email protected]), the district’s own site metrowestveterans.com the page names for appointments. The page records a veterans’ breakfast on the first Friday of each month at the Senior Center and links the town’s honor rolls, the Veterans Celebration Committee and the Veterans Grave Officer board. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Hopkinton Veterans Services: MetroWest Veterans Services District, Kathy Lang, Director and Veterans Agent. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
