Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Holliston grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Board of Assessors’ page names Jeffrey Marshall the chair and Amy Gow and Patrick Hafford the members, with Kevin Rudden, M.A.A. the Principal Assessor at 703 Washington Street, Room 107 (508-429-0604). The Exemption for Veterans page prints the town’s fiscal 2027 amounts: $821.60 under each of the base clause’s subcategories - a veteran with a minimum 10 per cent service-connected disability, a veteran of pre-World War I conflicts, a Purple Heart recipient, the spouse or never-remarried surviving spouse of such a veteran, a Gold Star parent and the surviving spouse of a World War I service member - $1,540.50 under 22A, $2,567.50 under 22B, $3,081 under 22C, a full exemption under 22D, $2,054 under 22E and full exemption under 22F and 22H, and a variable one under 22G for a fiduciary-owned domicile. Each is the statute doubled and raised by the fiscal 2027 adjustment of 2.7 per cent alone ($800, $1,500, $2,500, $3,000 and $2,000 times 1.027), one year’s adjustment on the doubled figure, what clauses 22I and 22J at 100 per cent produce with a fiscal-2027 first application. The page names no acceptance and no vote was found on the town’s site, so the entry asks the assessors to confirm which the town has accepted; its residency text asks for the six months before service or two consecutive years the statute now asks for. The town’s Veteran Services page points to the MetroWest Veterans Services District, serving Medway, Hopkinton, Holliston and Ashland, whose page names Kathleen Lang the Director and Veterans’ Agent (as of July 1, 2025), John DeSousa the Administrative Support Specialist and Richard Sabounjian a part-time agent, with the district’s main office at 1750 Washington Street (508-429-0629, [email protected]), where the EOVS directory lists the same officer and office; the district describes chapter 115 among the benefits it files. The Senior/Veteran Tax Work-Off Program offers veteran and senior homeowners up to $1,500 for 100 hours of work at $15.00 an hour for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, per its Veterans Tax Work-Off Guidelines, administered by the Veterans’ Agent, Human Resources, the Assessors and the Treasurer/Collector; the guidelines name no section, so this entry records the program under the section 5N work-off it is. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through MetroWest Veterans Services District: Kathleen Lang, Director & Veterans’ Agent. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
