Miscellaneous

A filter hides a benefit only when that benefit has a rating gate and the rating you set misses it. A benefit with no rating gate stays on the list. No disability needed keeps only the benefits a living veteran can use without any service-connected disability rating: one that needs a rating or a disability, or may, stays off, and so does one only a surviving spouse or other family member can use. Who it is for means who can receive the benefit in their own right; a survivor is the family of a veteran or service member who died, and a child of one is listed under both. This is not an eligibility decision.

Arizona Disabled Veteran and Purple Heart Hunting and Fishing Licenses

MiscellaneousArizona · State

A free combination hunting and fishing license for a veteran rated 100% permanent and total. A Purple Heart recipient with a year of Arizona residency pays a discounted fee instead.

100% permanent and total for the free license. The free combination license requires a VA letter stating 100 percent disabled, permanent and total. A bare 100 percent rating that is not designated permanent and total may not satisfy the department, so check the wording of the letter.

MiscellaneousArizona · State

One-time grants of up to $3,000, with a $20,000 lifetime limit, for an Arizona service member or veteran family facing financial hardship connected to military service. Funded by a tax-credit donation rather than an appropriation.

MiscellaneousArizona · State

Half off the day-use entrance fee for an active duty member or a retired veteran, and free day use for a veteran with a 100% disability rating.

100% rating for free day use. A veteran with a 100 percent disability rating enters without paying the day-use fee. A retired veteran or active duty member below that receives 50 percent off, and a veteran who is neither retired nor rated 100 percent receives no discount.

Arizona Vehicle License Tax and Registration Exemption

MiscellaneousArizona · State

One vehicle exempt from the vehicle license tax and registration fee for a 100% disabled veteran, and for a vehicle VA helped buy. Deployed service members get a one-year exemption on up to two vehicles.

Arizona Veteran Designation on a Driver License

MiscellaneousArizona · State

A VETERAN designation available on a driver license, identification card, or commercial license. A license held by a service member stays valid for six months after discharge, and commercial skills tests can be waived.

Proof of service, an award, or a VA rating depending on the design. The rating filter does not gate the plates generally.

The Finance department's own page still describes it by acts of 1949 and 1979, calls it a plate for non-service-connected disability, and charges $4 for a second plate that the statute caps at $1.

At least 30 percent service-connected. Ark. Code Ann. § 27-24-203(2)(B)(ii): "at least thirty percent (30%) disabled", owning a vehicle used by or for the veteran.

Arkansas Disabled Veteran Lifetime Hunting and Fishing Licenses

Arkansas Military Retirement Income Tax Exemption

MiscellaneousArkansas · State

All military retired pay, including Guard and reserve retirement, and Survivor Benefit Plan annuities are exempt from Arkansas income tax. The catch is that a retiree whose exempt military pension is $6,000 or more loses the separate $6,000 exemption for any other pension or IRA.

A military pension of $6,000 or more cancels the $6,000 exemption for other retirement income. Ark. Code Ann. § 26-51-307(f), as amended by Act 358 of 2023; DFA AR1000F instructions.

Arkansas Military, Veteran and Gold Star License Plates
