Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Circuit Clerk's page: "In Arkansas, DD-214s are filed in the circuit clerk's office. A copy is kept as a part of the circuit clerk's official records. The original is returned to the filer. There is no charge to have a DD-214 filed with the Ashley County Circuit Clerk's Office." Its fee list also reads "DD-214 forms: no charge", and it points to the National Personnel Records Center for a replacement and to the county veterans office for a copy. Why record it. A recorded discharge is a permanent county copy the office can certify when the original is lost. Recorded instruments are public records, so ask how the office keeps discharges before recording one. Circuit Clerk Vickie Riley Stell, 205 E. Jefferson St., Hamburg, AR 71646, 870-853-2030, Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The county's site is now a "coming soon" page, so this rests on the Internet Archive's June 2026 copy.
